I was just let go from a huge round of layoffs. I have considered myself to be a high performer and was told it all came down to years of experience. I really loved this company and my heart is broken and confidence is shattered. Any advice or suggestions?

Give yourself time to be sad about it. You loved your job, and that's a big life change under any circumstances let alone layoffs. When you're ready, try pinpointing what you loved about it and searching for other places that value those things too.

It's so tough, but remind yourself that you were part of a "huge round of layoffs" so it's nothing personal. Can you afford to take a little time off before jumping into something else? If so, then I'd recommend doing so. It'll be a nice break and a chance to clear your head and get your confidence back before you start applying. If not, then just take a deep breath and move forward. You'll find something else soon enough.

How do you not let a layoff continue to effect your confidence. I am noticing that I’m self-eliminating as I apply for jobs because now I am telling myself that I’m “not good at my job”.

How do you not take a layoff due to RIF (involuntary reduction) personally? I was told it is not personal. All full time positions except 1 were let go. Contractors on the team still exist and so does the team. I can’t help but wonder whether performance was a factor and it makes me really sad even after a few months! Any examples of how laying off full time employees over contractors helps with cost cutting? Thanks!

Wonder if anyone can offer advice on which cert to pursue next? I obtained my CompTIA Security+ last year and wondering if I should go for the CySA+ or Pentest+ next. I also have my AWS CCP and will be sitting for the Solutions Architect soon as well. Currently not doing security stuff at work but would love to keep my skills going. I was hoping one of these next certs will help me finally break into a security role and love the idea of pentesting but not sure if the CySA+ is more beneficial.

P.S: I don’t have a lot of pain during my period (which is what my mum keeps saying it’ll feel like). So unfortunately that reference hasn’t helped! Any advice helps!!

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.
