Any federal AWS solutions architect working for Deloitte? How is the hiring process, especially for those that do not have hands on cloud experience? I’m getting a feeling there’s more focus on expanding work with experienced hires and less on growing people who have potential and related skills.

Hello, I have received an offer from Southwest Airlines as a Associate Technology Analyst with their direct college hire program. Will be graduating in May with a degree in MIS and also have internships experience as a Business Systems analyst intern. The salary compensation started off at 66,500 but was looking for the 75k range and they got back to me saying the best they can do is 68,500. They also have a 401k company match up to 9.3%. Do you think this is a solid offer for this job market?

I’m a Senior Flutter Developer, I make $170k base. It depends where you live but $114k in a senior dev position is pretty low.
Thanks for sharing! The ranges I’ve found online vary but from what I’ve seen $166k-$170 seems most common. I haven’t accepted anything yet but after getting a lot of feedback I’m going to counter. The job search for me has been kind of tough right now, haven’t been able to get past final rounds and with my current company filing for chapter 11, I’m trying to secure something asap.
you might have better luck on Blind or levels.fyi
(i’m not a developer but just left tech for consulting and most folks used the Blind app over there)
Probably a little low, but I would take it and get the hell outta the crypto industry right now. Try to negotiate a little, but take whatever they're offering at the end of the day and run.
Yeah I’m going to stay far away from the crypto industry for now. It’s been more stressful than anything. I may try to counter, if no success then I’ll probably just accept. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it!
Are you not happy with your current job? I'm not saying a 9k raise is nothing, but with taxes it is not a significant raise, so why shake the boat?
Is it bad where you are? Maybe they are willing to raise your salary that much without too much fuss?
Also, not familiar with flutter, but I would suggest developing your general skills and not focus on one framework - its usually a bad strategy for advancing
My current company filed for Chapter 11. My general skills are pretty solid but I totally get what you’re saying. But for background reference, graduated from Columbia with a concentration in intelligent systems (computer vision, neural networks & NLP, machine learning, etc.) and have held positions ranging from an SDET doing UI automation for iOS and Android to a senior mobile architect so I’d like to think my background stretches into a few solid areas but I could be totally wrong. But yes, I can see how focusing on just flutter could be a bad strategy.
Why are they using flutter, what company is this?
FedEx. They just purchased another company to get into the e-commerce space and they’re using flutter.
My company is transitioning to flutter and I would shocked to know if that is the salary any senior dev is getting regardless of the place in the US. But you have an urgent need to get out, so I'd say take it.
Flutter is being used exclusively in developing countries that's why salaries are that low, you wouldn't get offered something like that for Android or god forbid iO$. I don't understand when flutter can do both code bases(and more), how can companies justify lower salaries. I hope its a transitionary trend and as more tier 3 and tier 2 companies adopt, salaries will pick up.
Please accept the offer and show them how much money you are saving them and ask for a raise in an year.
They get away with it because no one cares about flutter. Most platform engineers will go job shopping if we’re asked to start something like flutter. Cool, it can do mobile and more… I mean, so can HTML.
Edit sorry, that was kind of off topic. My first sr position paid 85k. I started job shopping the day I got that promotion. I ended up accepting an offer for 145k and quickly advanced to ~161k. Currently doing native android but started here with native iOS… I go both ways 🙃
How safe is your crypto startup?
It’s not safe at all haha that’s why I’m leaving. Chpt. 11 to be specific
So you haven't used flutter on current company but have an experience of it?
I mean 114k is pretty low salary at any Senior software Engineer job, but then are you confident to have a title if Senior "Flutter" Developer?
Okay thanks for the explanation. How many YOE with using Flutter would you say? From what I hear from you, seems like you can totally ask for more. Anyways as i said, 114k is low for any Senior Dev job and you should ask for more.
BUT, if you are jumping out of a sinking ship, and you are in NEED of a new job, it's not bad to take it while you are looking for another one
