I was just recruited into a management consulting practice at a big4 and my first project is staff aug. Is this a bad sign?

TLDR: junior associates just don’t get it. When I was a junior associate I couldn’t imagine telling a senior associate on the day an assignment was due that I had other more urgent deadlines and I couldn’t get to their assignment. Are you kidding me? When we’re you going to communicate this? Am I supposed to just pick up the slack here and do your work for you? Our client deadline hasn’t changed. Was it just going to magically get done? WTF

I took this role ~10 months ago and I LOVE my direct reports, but I’m really struggling with my manager and leadership. I’m at a startup that has recently entered the growth phase, tripling our business. There are major gaps in communication, prioritization and general processes. I don’t feel like leadership or my manager are taking them seriously. It makes my day to day incredibly difficult because I feel as though I have project whiplash vs getting to focus.
