Welcome! You can add the cage when the plant is taller, but I usually add mine immediately because I cross plant with cucumbers and they like to climb the exterior.

Look up companion planting. Basil will go well with tomatoes, but there are certain combos you don't want to plant next to each other. Additional pro tip: when planting tomatoes, bury the stem almost to the first set of leaves. Any part of a tomato stem will root, and this makes the plant stronger. Tomatoes like a lot of fertilizer too - nitrogen at the beginning to get leaf growth started, then phosphorus or bone meal to set fruit.
Fruit ripens at 55-85ish degrees depending on the variety. If it's hotter than that, you may notice it takes longer for tomatoes to go from green to red. That's normal.
