I was laid off about 3 years ago. In 2020 I took a job as a specialist after being in leadership for 10 years. I think my current title of specialist is not helping me land interviews for leadership positions. Any advice is appreciated.

Can you edit that part of the title and just show the skills/experience? So maybe instead of “project specialist”, it’s “project management lead” and it’s not a lie because you may be actually leading some projects. Only do this if you’re comfortable though!

Great idea! I am basically a team of 1 so I could tweak the “title” to lead.

I would utilize creative resume writing to get past this. Don’t outright lie, of course, but jazz it up enough to get to the interview where you can give details. When I have reviewed applications, seeing a big drop in title is a little concerning. I would hope that after the last 2 years we’ve all had that employers would be less concerned about this but unfortunately I don’t think that is the case. You’re going to have to get creative while still being honest.

I recently started a job this past November as a Clinical Informatics Supervisor at a fairly large healthcare organization. The women working under me at the healthcare organization are twice my age. I can honestly say from day one I felt excluded. I experienced multiple occasions of insubordination and quite honestly, bullying. Now I’m being pushed out of my position, not fired. Now they have me sitting and doing nothing all day. I don’t know what to do.

I’ve applied to hundreds of graphic design roles at this point with only 1 interview, which ended in a bust. I mainly specialize in logo design and digital branding assets. My most recent experience was a contract remote role with Franklin Covey as a Graphic Designer + Digital Course Builder, where we focused on photo manipulation and adding digital illustrations to the course we were helping build. Any recommendations on which job boards I should be looking through for a better lead?

I’m curious, I Just had a Canadian company reach out for a remote recruiter role. Upon asking them for their benefits package specially since they have no physical presence in the US, I was told they don’t share that unless they are closer to making an offer.

Is this normal ? Most US companies share their benefits package with pride usually upon your first meeting. What’s your take on this? Would you invest time interviewing and not knowing what kind of benefits you will get ?

I was told by a company via email prior to the final interview, “that the maximum salary for this opportunity is $90k plus 10% bonus.” Does this mean that I should expect no more than the previously stated or expect to be offered the previously stated? The work here is too stressful and there is absolutely zero WLB. So I decided to start looking out again. However I am not getting good interview calls. Are most companies not hiring now ? Or could it because my CTC is too high ?
