I was laid off by my company in Nov 2021 after getting my green card approved in Sept 2021. I just got a new job and planning to go back to my home country for a long overdue visit. Will CBP give me a hard time for re-entry when i get back to the States?

Just got my Schengen tourist visa (to France) rejected. I have an expired h1b visa stamp but approval until 2025. I mailed in my application (because I’d gotten this visa many times) and reason given was “insufficient reason for your trip”. Anyone has experience with this and can advise? 😭

However I am starting to get a lot of offers from industry, average TC of these offers are at 1.5x to 2x of my current pay. Could use the money, but also am afraid of being laid off during recession and or not going for partnership at Deloitte. Should I start planning my exit?

Have seen quite a few people move from direct PE to co-investment or secondaries firms because it is less in the weeds and you can evaluate deals faster. I recently moved from strategy consulting to AM (primaries, secondaries and co-investments) with the intention of trying to go direct PE. I’m now debating whether I continue to get deal experience in my current role so I can eventually pursue direct PE or if I should look into firms who exclusively do co-investments or secondaries.
