Yes getting SHRM certified is good for many reasons. It’s often listed as “desired” so it shows you take an active interest in your career. Additionally if you attend a class to prep for the test you can do some networking for potential roles. So it was incredibly beneficial to me. Finally I learned a lot about areas in HR that I am not always exposed to.
Just chiming in to say I totally agree! I completed my PHR many years ago and it always a worthy investment in yourself. Hard to say if it will help land a new job but certainly shows initiative and for me was helpful to explain while I didn't have some of the HR exp I did atleast study and pass the tests and have certification.
If you don't mind, what city are you in? We're often looking for talent in RM - coming from Moss Adams, a mid-size CPA firm.
I'm in Harrisburg. I mostly worked remote supporting business in multiple cities in the EST and MST zones. I'm open to travel and may consider relocation depending on location. But remote with occasional travel is ideal. :) Thanks for the inquiry. I'll check out Moss Adams.
I just accepted a new RM role outside of the Big 4. If you are willing to explore new industries/smaller organizations then (hopefully) more options will open up. Best of luck to get back on your feet quickly!
Thanks for the update KPMG1. Congrats! Is the role remote? If not, what area or city, out of curiosity? I'm seeing a good amount of options in the upper northwest.
I'm currently studying and although I'm not looking to leave my role nor is it required, the experience is def exposing me to areas outside my normal skill set where I may want to explore more work in the future. I recommend getting it. Its definitely a qualifier for the market and will help u set yourself apart esp if your org was segmented and you didn't get much cross departmental training.
Great! Thanks Williams1.
Did Deloitte have extensive layoffs in this area ? I’m a TFS at Accenture and getting worried 😟
Accenture 1, I don't have a full picture unfortunately, but based on my group, it's running between 20-25%. That's a guess though. Our consultants got about a 10% cut, but some groups were heavily cut due to business decline. Try not to worry. I know, easier said than done.
No Deloitte did not have extensive layoffs. It varied based on business.
Private message me, curious what area you were RMing in as we may soon have a role at my firm opening soon :)
