If you have no job then yes it’s worth it
In California? Hell no! 😂😂
At least you can order in more diverse food selections 😂
Best way to get a job is to have a job.
I would take the job and keep searching
70k > $0. However I would need to know more info on your prior work experience/ certifications to see if that would be considered underpaid based on your qualifications.
Sounds like that firm is trying to use the downturn to reset their payroll levels. This happened back in 08 to a number of people I know. If you do accept it... keep looking. Get the right job and walk. I wouldn’t even put it on your resume if it’s under a year.
Hi Everyone - thanks for responding and it’s been helpful to hear your perspectives. I hope everyone stays safe and able to continue to stay headstrong. Cheers!
Agree with some posts here in that this firm isn’t thinking long term. By offering ppl low salaries, because they know ppl are looking for jobs will just result in ppl leaving when the economy does turn.
If they offered you the salary knowing it’s less than what you wanted, then they already showed they don’t care about ppl.
I’d take it because nothing is better than nothing, but wouldn’t feel guilty in leaving once something better comes around. After all, they set themselves up.
That’s ridiculously low but just take it and continue interviewing. Like basically prioritize interviewing and applying more than the job. And worst case don’t put it in your resume if you think it looks bad.
Hey KPMG 1 thanks for the reply. I have 6 years of experience and my CPA license. I was a Senior 2 in Advisory at my prior role for two years and I have 4 years at Big 4 before that.
@BDO2 probably somewhere in the $95- 150k range

Where in California? At my clients in SF seniors make 80 to 100. With 6 years of experience youd want to be at the higher end. Give 15% discount for covid should be at 85 minimum.

“COVID discount”
70k sounds like the salary for a new senior.
We’re at 70
You can’t beat the weather in CA. Your stress level will be mellowed because the sun shines daily, most live a healthy lifestyle and those beautiful sunsets. Go go go!
We never see the sun though
It is tough, the job market is tough right now, so if you feel it will be challenging landing somewhere else, it may be worth taking the job.
Would you have to relocate? If not and you can’t find anything better, I’d take it and keep looking. If it would require you to relocate, no - 70k is not enough
What industry are you in?
I had the option of Detroit or California. Salary was only 4K difference in California so definitely didn’t make up for cost of living but I’m single and don’t have many expenses . So I picked California and I loveeeeeeeeeeee it. I’d say do it and keep searching for something better lol the lifestyle is priceless
SoCal
I would take this job for now, if you’re in between jobs. You can always keep your options open but this is better than being unemployed.
Take it and keep looking.
$70k in CA doesn't even allow you to buy TP to wipe your ass. They're taking advantage of you. Why not go to industry where you'll get over $100K easily. In SF you need at least $120k to be middle class
And what if their work isn’t worth very much? Should they still stay in a state they can’t afford?
