You’re asking the wrong question…. How about, how do I sue this school for firing me for having covid?
Oh I definitely am lol. I just need help framing why I left and struggle with it.
Be kind to yourself, go see a good lawyer.
I really appreciate everyone suggesting legal counsel. It’s one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made and the support in knowing this is what I need to do is very helpful.
Are you struggling with communicating to a recruiter that you had leave because of covid? Or do you not want to tell the recruiter you’re about to enter into a lawsuit against your former employer for what they did to you? It doesn’t sound like you got fired for cause so I don’t see any issue with just being honest about what happened. They are recruiters and come across a lot of issues with candidates and can help you frame comms to potential employers in a way that’s either neutral or doesn’t impact your candidacy somewhere else.
I would say that I was let go due to the pandemic. Saying you had covid will make them question whether you are suing, and saying "health issues" raises a red flag for insurance. Health issues could be anything from cancer to rehab to mental health. Sadly, they will see you as someone with a chronic problem that will increase their health costs.
Are you vaccinated now?
You could just say you were laid off due to Covid. No further explanation. Most people won’t even ask a follow up question to that. It istrue you were let go due to covid - no need to elaborate that you actually had covid. Good luck.
