Most agencies/companies require you to come back and work a set amount of days after your leave is up. It should be written into the mat leave policy so way to obtain if you have a benefits handbook or intranet with your policies.

Yes, you would lose your maternity leave, so best to check with your new employer on their policy.

Someone I worked with in the past put in their 2 weeks when they came back from maternity leave, I think that’s fine/ normal. They are paying you for all the time you put in leading up to it.

You could also ask your new employer if they will pay you out for your maternity leave? Then you can leave on a good conscious if your worried about it

All depends on what state you’re in.

Close to your return date, HR is going to reach out to you about your intent to return. That would be the right time to give your notice.

I am exhausted and upset and feel alone, just want to give up everything and walk away. Nanny got Covid full rest for four days, husband got Covid at the same time and full rest, I handled my 9 month old alone. Baby still gets up multiple times in the night. I have 101 fever and I don’t get to rest because everyone is not feeling fully well still. Struggling to emotionally connect with my 3mo old. Between a full work schedule and looking after our older child (a precocious 3yo), I feel like I have little emotional bandwidth to connect with the baby. My wife is breastfeeding and doing the bulk of the work, but when I pitch in to change a diaper or burp him (often while also on a call), it feels very transactional. Feel pretty guilty about it. Does anyone relate? Or am I an outlier?

For those pregnant or with a newborn, how cautious are you with quarantining? We’ve been somewhat safe (still going to Walgreens, groceries, etc once in a while to grab stuff) but it’s been hard being cooped up for so long!

I live in one of the most expensive cities in the US, and even with combined incomes of $600k, my SO and I can not afford (nor justify) a 3-bedroom house (median price north of $2M). We also work nonstop and I don’t know how we’ll be able to raise a family with our workload and COL. Looking to relocate and find a new job where I work 40 hours a week so I can raise a family, where COL is much lower but we don’t take a massive pay cut. Does such a place exist?? Or am I looking for a fairy tale?

I’m pregnant, scared, and afraid to tell my partner. Neither of us want a baby right now but I’m scared terminating the pregnancy would ruin our relationship (i’ve heard stories of some men having resentment about it). My husband and I are having a very small baby shower and invited only about 20 people and made sure they’re all vaccinated. Two of our best friends have been having trouble conceiving and they and their spouses declined. I understand how painful it must be, but honestly I’m very hurt (they are literally our best friends and it won’t be the same without them). Any advice how to cope?
