Book recommendations for staring a CPG company?
Depends on your risk tolerance, immediate cash needs, and how much you believe in the company. Shares could net out significant value if the company succeeds i.e. IPOs or is acquired. If you really interested try and model out 3 scenarios over 3-5 yrs...heavy shares, 50/50 split shares/cash, heavy cash. You could also risk adjust each scenario. I know the only certainty about a model is that it's wrong, but could give you a ballpark idea.
If you are young I would potentially take a risk and go with more shares...
Couldn’t agree more here. It all comes down to risk tolerance.
Based on alot of market trends last year, a SaaS company that has raised Series A has a higher probability to raise a Series B which effectively pushes up the valuation. This is mainly because VC's have seen some potential and the risk of going nowhere after a Series A has reduced. The company also has FT100 customers which is a huge deal. Depending on your age and lifestyle, my recommendation is 60/40 stocks/cash (Basically more weight to stocks). Company also has enough cash to get the correct people to figure out the business model now. If the company succeeds your stocks payout will be significantly higher than any cash increase you get now.
Appreciate the information. Super helpful.
