I was offered a position at an adult entertainment app. The money is good, but I feel somewhat icky about the company product. Would the software engineering department be professional?

Sex is normal. America's weird Puritan repressive morals are the problem. Violence is not icky at all, but better not show a nipple. If the company name that you end up with on your resume screams porn, then you likely will run into close-minded people who are ashamed of their kinks and will judge you for the fact that you facilitated their closet fetish. If the company name isn't obvious and the work helps you toward your goals - go for it. If you are genuinely conflicted, then ask someone you trust to discuss/feedback. Mock an interview to see how you mentally explain the work you were doing. How do you describe their business domain in a business professional setting. BTW, the software group I was almost a part of was not professional. I interviewed for an SDE role in an adult entertainment club over a late lunch. I turned it down because I just couldn't see how that would turn out well in the long run (literally, going to work at a well known "club", having to walk through the club itself to get to the office - at a point in time in my life when those particular distractions would have been really difficult to ignore).

Lol oh gosh

I imagine, as part of your work, you will be exposed to a significant amount of 'adult' content (how can you work on the site if you never look at it!?). If you are uncomfortable with that I can certainly see how you might want to avoid it. However, I imagine the tech department has little to do with the production of the content and that most days aren't all that different from other software dev departments. My bigger concern would be how this will look on your resume in the future. I had a candidate who'd done some work for Playboy, and while their work had nothing to do with the content (they worked on the account management software) it still was weird to see that on their resume. I'd see if they operate under a parent company that isn't so directly associated with the adult content so that your resume doesn't turn off potential future employers.

OnlyFans? Lol

Yeah it’s not all phub and the stuff you’re thinking about. They’re often owned by a parent company so you don’t have to put it on your resume like that. You may see some content but if you’re on the software side it’ll likely be business as usual for you.

Are you going to feel comfortable putting it on your resume later? That would be my big question.

Good deal-do.

I’m sure they are … sounds interesting

Yikes, I don't know how I would feel about that. I wouldn't be comfortable knowing I have children. Wouldn't want them to find out "Accidentally" where I work.

Interviewed for Deloitte S&A Tech Strategy SC and got a verbal offer for Consultant instead. I negotiated the offer to 120K salary and 10K signing bonus. I’m a boomerang with 4 years ERP consulting but this past year I’ve been doing DEI Consulting. Spoke with former colleagues who rejoined Deloitte and got a much higher offer for SC. How do I go back to the recruiter to negotiate further? I suggested that I’d probably sign but need time to think. Now I’d like to go back and request 140k salary.
