I was on PIP and got fired last week. On Friday I get an email from HR saying - as notified my last day was Friday and I have been terminated from my role due to “poor performance”. Just curious if HR should say it like that instead of something like unsatisfactory performance?

How’d u get to principal?

likefunnysmart

Well it’s certainly misleading when consultants use principal to mean a very high title and last I checked this is the consulting bowl in a consulting app… there’s no way you’re not aware of how we use it since you use this app.

In fact you should take your own advice and not get hung up on titles, and stop knowingly misleading others about yours 🤷

First, sorry you got let go. That's rough. Good luck finding a new, better job. As for the wording, why do you care, really? It's the same thing, and you're no longer employed there. It's not like you have some sort of permanent record where it gets recorded.

Sorry this happened. How long was the PIP in place?

Guys, they’re an elementary school principal

I’m incredibly sorry that you had to go thru such a horrible and unfair process. Is this IBM? I hear a lot of folks have been PIPed there. If it’s any consolation being PIPed is rarely any reflection on you as a professional. Its usually just your employer wanting to restructure, cut costs etc and they are being opportunistic in these post covid times- ie not wanting to pay you what you deserve. Try to lick your wounds, take it in your stride, and chalk it up to a bad corporate experience and try and find a better job. Perhaps this is your time and you can use the opportunity to find your true calling.

Do not take it personally. It is a HR game and we are all expendable by the corporations and they label you in anyway for legal purposes.

You work for yourself and focus on taking care of yourself. Next step is not the past of what happened and the focus shoukd be the future and the actions you take.

Please read Goldsmith book Earned Life where he talks about your new self instead of the old self.

likeupliftinghelpful

You are a Principal, how do you not know this? You are making people agree with your company that they are right in letting you go.

See if you can delete this because you don’t need these comments after getting fired

like

Sorry OP. People are shitty. You will bounce back.

I let go from PAS for performance but yet was never given a PIP. My calendar invite said “Connect”

like

Sorry you were let go.

Both of those terms mean the same thing. I’m not sure either one is “better”.

like

At this point, the wording doesn't matter. The outcome is the same for you. Best to just put it all behind you, hit the reset and pivot to your next move.

like

Principal doesn't mean partner. Depends on the firm. At Slalom it's roughly equivalent to Manager.

This is Slalom or Acn?

Sorry OP! Wording sounds a bit sus, but is probably minor in the scheme of things. Good luck

One of my friends works as a Director in Nagarro. She has been there for 7 years and has a CTC of 42 with total yoe 17. Per current trend this is low even though she is a constant top performer. She says that even though delivery people play a pivotal role, they are not paid well. In her team, she sees technical people earning 45-50 at 10-11 yoe. So the factor is 2.5 for delivery vs 4.5 to 5 for technical roles. Per her, this is quite common in Nagarro & she is not an outlier. ctd in comments

When I get feedback on my resume and experience, people always mention "impressive". I feel desperate...Being in less challenging role at Amazon makes everything worse.

I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.
