I was on the bench for about two months for AFS (prj complications / clearance) where I ended up just taking a project that seemed to align with something I wanted. I've been here for about 3 weeks...

If you roll yourself off after 3 weeks with 2 months on bench you better be a superstar. Guarantee you will Blacklisted in the practice and raise and promotion will be zero.

OP make yourself better and you get better projects.

I have the check the schedule, but I think the first phase ends in the summer sometime. I've been with the company for over 2 years. This was my first time swapping projects.

like

And I've realized it doesn't really offer much for what experience I wanted. Is it too soon to ask to switch? Ride it out a bit? Or start looking for a new company? SA 2 years exp

It's a year plus project btw. Not something you just do for 3 months and be done

Can you pay your bills? Does it provide you with a stepping stone to something better?

BAH1, I assume they meant a different project, not a different company. To OP, I don’t think it’s ever bad to be proactive in understanding that a project isn’t a fit, and to be looking for something better suited for your skills / career goals

Haha I feel bad, but maybe this is the right thing to do. Should I reach out to my CC about this first?

I usually just email my CC/CM, (but they know I’m actively looking), with a cool project I found that is more up my alley and ask their blessing to reach out to the project manager about staffing

I rolled off my old project with another project ready and was in the clearance process. Then 3 weeks in, that project told me they were not able to staff until much later. So I found whatever looked liked something i liked, and clearance took 1 month. Wasn't really in my control :(

If you want to be a team player, I'd wait for the first milestone or phase to be complete then move out. That's typically 2-4 months on a year long project. Do your best in the meantime and your manager will be your best advocate for a new role.

I’d hold tight for another two months then look at making moves

Are you new to the firm? 2 months on the bench is a long time. I’d be careful about raising anything too quickly because you wouldn’t want to end up on the bench again in such a short period

Show of hands; who has been laid off because your agency lost a big client? Also, when you interviewed for your next job did you feel comfortable saying that? And do other agencies understand?

Imagine for a moment that all strategic consulting firms in the region would have consultants work no later than 9pm. Do you think the quality of the output would decrease? Or maybe the pricing the client is willing to pay would be lower? Or perhaps nothing would happen? I am thinking whether we work long hours because it’s by now part of work approach and culture or because we need to. (Personal experience: in London for my same firm I used to work much less and the output was great…)

Drafted 4th in 10 team .5 PPR. Bench is a little underwhelming, but solid starters. Went with upside bench players. Got offered Brady/Mixon for Allen/Robinson, but I think I like Robinson over Mixon even though Mixon is getting drafted higher, but let me know your thoughts.

EY leadership has no boundaries. My husband is working in a project where they are in critical phase of testing and delivery of the system. His leadership calls him at 6am in the morning for status updates when they know for sure that he was up till 2/3 am working. I am asking him to put foot down but it seems he is the only one with the required knowledge. Venting ends. Thanks for hearing me out.

I am almost 2 years into my H1B. They haven’t started my I140 but when I joined told me that I would be eligible in a year of which I am coming up on in this Oct. I got a new offer today but they told me that they would apply I140 after a year from when I join. The pros of the new one is TC more than 18k with sign-on of 15k (not sure clauses for this) and better wrk-life bal). My question is, how long into H1B is it advisable to have an I140 applied for. Would 3-4 years into my H1B be too late?

I've seen folks around here ask for referrals to companies. I'm looking for a referral to KPMG's Data & Analytics practice at an equivalent level to EY manager (currently S3 here on track for promotion this upcoming year). How does that process usually work on this app? I'm open to other consulting firms as well but already have referrals for most of my targets. I specialize in AI & ML and my differentiator is being able to effectively translate between executives and data scientists.

A question for Big 4 peeps - if you know the salary range in the group you wanna go for is 150k to 170k, how much should you say when the HR asks you how much you want? Is 180k too much to start with? (Didn’t want to start with 170k since they will only come back with lower I assume)
