I was raised as a fundamentalist Christian and was a “true believer” until a few years ago. I don’t know how to break it to my parents that their model child is an atheist.

Since as "true believers" they seem to enjoy blissful ignorance maybe just let them keep believing what they want?

M1 why lie? No need to shove it in someone’s face but be yourself, man

Same boat, but never plan to tell them. Don’t see the benefit

Atheism is pretty damn close to fundamentalism.

As I pointed out above, I’m actually an agnostic it’s just usually easier to say atheist

It’s hard rationalizing something that’s irrational. Faith is clearly not based on actual factual analysis so there’s no point in actually trying to make someone right or wrong. Being an atheist means you have come to a different conclusion, that’s it. And living your truth is important. Just be an atheist and be a good person and you’re fine.

I was raised the same. I don’t consider myself an atheist, however my beliefs have shifted since I turned 18. Thankfully, my folks were supportive when I told them. I’d say just do it - you’ll feel a lot better yourself. Good luck!

I think I’m a spiritual Christian... not sure if that’s the proper term. I can understand that. My grandparents were the same. I think with this situation, you just have to decide which battle you’re more comfortable fighting. Some people struggle with hiding their beliefs and want it to be known while others are OK with just not even telling anyone.

I was in the same boat, my parents were leadership positions in church (mom was board president). I started off by asking questions they couldn’t argue with without sounding like terrible people - homosexuality was an easy one. Poking holes in that argument started to wind them down. I also discussed women’s rights and the view of women in the Bible, again an easy argument. It took probably 1-2 years of very civil religious debate for them to understand I wasn’t walking away Bc I thought the whole thing was dumb (it’s not; I like and respect many parts of christianity), but that I was walking away from the many fundamental injustices of institutional religion. My parents are still (fervently) in the church but they stopped “converting” me. On my end, I am always respectful of their beliefs by praying with them over dinner, and going along with “thank god” here and there.

For those who haven’t told your parents, will this be an issue when you get married and have kids?

Why are u afraid? Just say that you see it in a different way🤷🏻‍♀️

I started working in a agency two months ago, and I have two very big projects running simultaneously. My Creative Director left for paternity leave, and left me with all the work, facing the client, going to shootings, editing. I've been working 15 days straight, no weekends. The agency hasn't given me any back up/someone I can team up with to do the job. Is this normal? I'm used to have a partner, a copywriter or another creative working alongside. Keep in mind that I'm mid-level.

Thoughts on Costco sofa sets / sectionals? Not the most stylish, but looking for comfy and durable and strain resistant to survive baby and dog and extended family. I miss those days. 😔 Anyway, any advice, fabrics, or other things to consider?
