Does anyone know if the same 401k rules apply at EY as Accenture so they will cap the contributions coming for your check say if you hit the yearly limits in August? So if you hit the 22,500 in 23 there is no way to go over for tax issues. Thinking to frontload next year contributions if market is down. EY

$170k in car loans and this gem of a quote:
“But my biggest concern is that after taxes, 401(k) contributions, bills, savings and mortgage ($4,500), on paper I’m paycheck to paycheck.”
You are not living paycheck to paycheck if you can afford to contribute to your 401k, put more into savings, pay bills, and afford really expensive cars. This person is utterly clueless as to what living paycheck to paycheck means.

You read in the story 170k in cars?
No sympathy here.
Agree that those cars seem like an easy area in which to make a change. Maybe the person who is the subject of that article will get a money coach and that person will advise on the car point.
We’ve created a society that rewards intelligence but doesn’t value wisdom.
And the result is an entire class of educated, high functioning fools.

Dave Ramsey built an entire career out of stuff like this.
The “after savings” part is pretty funny, quite frankly - would be like a company saying, “After deducting operating expenses, taxes, and net income, we aren’t making any money!”
I suppose they want to have their cake and eat it too from a liquidity standpoint but who knows…

Market watch releases one of these articles like every 6 months for outrage clicks.
Soo the person doesn’t know how to live within their means.

$170k isn't super hard to do. That's what we had, more or less, for our two cars

Idk about them. My car is 2.1% so I'm not concerned

I got no sympathy for these folks. I bought a used 7-Series for $55k and a used Q7 for $35k. CarMax warranty on both of them. (And I own a collector car outright but that’s beside the point.)
Be bourgeois on a budget. Buy used. Grab a CarMax warranty. It’s the Doug Demuro method.
