I was recently rejected for a position I was highly interested in and they rejected me based on my lack of experience with working for a bigger company. Otherwise, I know I was qualified. They have about 700 employees and I currently work with about 100 employees. How can I prepare for my future interviews where I can show that I can successfully transition and handle more employees as an HR Generalist? I’m super bummed about this rejection but I know I need to continue applying…. ☹️

I know it's a huge bummer, but not all bigger companies will have this harsh of a take. Keep your head up and keep applying. You'll find the perfect role soon enough.

All it takes is one larger company to take a chance on you! Good job at not taking this laying down, you'll find something soon.

Sorry to hear about the rejection! I agree with A1. I don't think previous company size is a deal breaker for a lot of companies.

Ugh. Sorry to hear that. Hang in there! You will find something good.

Hi there,
I’m a bit newer to data science and recently read through a few academic case studies on ethical fairness in ML/modeling. Would love to start a thread to hear some more from data scientist/ML perspective.
The most harmful example I came across was bias in ML for the criminal justice system.

Is anyone currently in a data science/ML position willing to share their thoughts/maybe an example based on experience? Thinking about how to actively prevent this kind of bias in future models

Im a contractor. Another firm has reached out for 100% remote work for basically a lateral move. I really like where I’m at right now. I’m remote but if I turn to FTE which is very possible later this year I would probably end up having to go in 1 or 2 days a week to NYC. My manager knows this is basically a dealbreaker for me. Should I let my manager know I have another firm reaching out but I really want to stay but I’d need to be a remote FTE? They mentioned several times I’m an asset.
