I was recently terminated from a company that I enjoyed working for. I’m in the process of interviewing and when I get asked why did you leave, I tell them the truth. I also explain to them that I learned a great deal about this experience. Should I not be so open about my situation? For those who are wondering, I worked for a company for almost 2 years and they told me I wasn’t the right fit and I was completely surprised.

Yeah, I probably would avoid being so blatantly honest with them, because then they'll be wondering what happened and whether or not it's worth the risk of hiring you. I wouldn't lie about it, I'd just probably say something like, "The company was restructuring and my role was no longer a fit with their goals."

That’s a better idea! Thanks 😊

Never tell a hiring manager that you were fired. No matter how you dress that up, they cannot get that out of their mind. Just say that your company went through a reorganization and your position was eliminated.

like

I agree with the other comments. I think it will create a negative connotation if you mention that you were fired. Even if you were actually doing great, the recruiter would still wonder whether you were fired because of your performance.

If you can afford not to be brutally honest then do so. You still have your name to protect even if you did love your experience at that company. You can still be honest but word it differently.

I was laid off and always leave it at that. I agree, never be too honest. When I am asked to elaborate (rarely ) I always respond by saying that the company was restructuring and my role was not longer a fit.

I’ve been in a smaller firm for a month or so now, and I am struggling to find allies or even collegiality. I have had multiple conversations with other associates who shit talk each other, and say things like A: “don’t talk to B because they don’t know anything…come to me instead” then hear things about A never having peoples backs/stabbing people in the back. It’s making the actual “working” part of the job so tedious because I never know who to go to for help without making myself vulnerable.

Hi Fishes,

Can anyone tell me how many rounds of interview are there in
JPMorgan Chase & Co?

I had only 1 round as of now, it was with the Process head VP along with the person I will be reporting (if got selected)

It's been almost 4 days since I had that interview; however, no feedback has been shared with me.

I can see that my profile/application is under review for basic requirements.

Should I consider my profile as reject?

Any thoughts/guidance would be highly appreciated.

Thank you

I was recently interviewed for a position at PayTM for DevOps Engineer, and was required to solve a simple search DS/Algo question on Python. After that, I was asked to optimise it's complexity and talk on it further. The interview revolved around using operators (not covered by a standard CKA exam afaik), dangling images reaping automation and ACL/SG on AWS. Just wanted to know if this is an expected format of interview for this position, since it was my first one! YOE = 2

Fourth-year associate. I will soon be commuting to Midtown Manhattan to a firm that pays market. From a financial perspective, am I completely nuts to be driving in and parking? Between tolls and parking, it’s going to be close to $10K a year as opposed to the bus/train being between $2500-$3000 a year. Thing is, bus/rail is pretty reliable in the morning (in terms of availability of options), but if I’m working late service gets dodgy and I like the freedom of having my own vehicle (cont.)
