I wasn’t recommended not to go up for year-end promotions and was recently denied mid-year promotion. Mid-year outcome was because I don’t have “enough software experience.” My peers who aren’t on 3 projects at one were promoted and I still need “more experience.” I’m expected to lead engagements and tackle a learning curve while my peers are expected to master one & have a support system to help them succeed.

Nothing is expected to change from now and the next 6 months but more work!

I just finished my Masters at UT Arlington. I’ve been working for this firm for almost 3 years in uptown Dallas. I technically don’t have a title, obviously because I’m not license. I mainly do a lot of renderings and postproduction work along with some digital graphics for a lot of projects. Is it too soon to ask for a pay raise? Or how do I come about that?

I work as a finance assistant at a car dealership. Next month is when I’ll get a raise…but I’m sure they’ll only give me a small one. Any advice? I’m making $16/hourly, and really need a good raise to, well, live in this crazy economy.

The new promotion is the same title as my coworker, and even with the raise is less pay. What should I do?

Had my annual review earlier today and I’m not happy with the raise and bonus offered. Aside from the managing partner, there were several other non-equity partners in the room and I didn’t feel comfortable negotiating in front of everyone. I’d rather speak to the managing partner alone as he’s the only one who has the ability to make decisions. I’ll have to wait until Monday to do it in-person but wondering if I should set up a call between now and Monday to discuss? Would Monday be too late?

I applied for and was offered a IT team position at a resort which pays 20% more and involves more diverse skills, networking, some sysadmin, potential .net development exp and scripting.

Current employer offers 21% raise and 30% coding duties. Dept head cannot give it in writing... coding is as helper to a consultant.

I’m 33 and recently joined a company at 200 k salary, 25% LTI and 50 k RSU. Initially, I was very happy abt it as I had received a pretty big jump from my previous base pay. I’m a senior associate at an insurance defense and coverage firm in Texas with about 15 attorneys. I’m bringing my first client in. What should I ask for, origination credit (if so, what %), a raise, what? I’m really at a loss here. From what I have heard, there is no standard arrangement at this firm, they negotiate with each associate/partner individually.
