I was recruited and also applied to two jobs. I had two of the interviews this week and one that is tomorrow. I feel confident I will be offered the job by two companies. Would you take the best paying job, which is Blackstone as an Associate, and move 3 hours away with kids or stay put and make less with a Director title? The 3rd company likely won't pay what my minimum salary is.

They could offer me a bag of cheetos at this point. I'd take anything.

likefunny

HAHAHA a bag of cheetos. Is it sad that I agree? This made me LOL

funny

Don't forget to factor in wlb. Banking is know to be terrible horrible no good very bad in that

like

I would stay put, but negotiate salary once you have the higher paying offer.

like

Agreed, you might be able to leverage the higher offer and get something better. Personally, banking at this point sounds way too stressful - wlb is just not a thing in that sector

like

There's a lot to consider here. How do your kids feel about the move? What's the WLB at both companies? Are there more paths to advancement in one vs the other?

like

I would leave for the higher offer if my kids were young enough to not notice the move too much. If you're leaving family behind and they're too young though, that could be even harder. If your family is supportive, I might take the higher role. However, there is no shame in trying to negotiate a higher offer that would allow you to stay put if you think it's possible. Good luck!

like

If your kids already have a life there and have established friendships there, then I would properly ask them about what they felt since they also have a say in this regard. If they're still young and won't remember much then I will definitely considering moving and taking the one which pays more without a doubt. Goodluck but consider your family

like

Thank you all so much! My kids are young, and they also like the idea of moving. My husband is supportive. While I absolutely love my current job and have wlb, I am fairly certain they won't try to increase my pay enough and keep me, nor is there room for growth without a clinical background most likely. I am surprised no one said go for the title increase of Director. This helps a lot. Last interview is today. Fingers crossed and may it all go exactly as it is supposed to.

After my interview I learned the Blackstone job may be a consultant role on a 1 to 2 year contract with a chance to be full time. This would mean I am remote. Would this change anyone's decision? The pay would be much better as a consultant than if I would have been direct with them. I worry about leaving a job I have been at for 4.5 years to be contract, but it would be really nice to more than double my current salary.

I was told I cleared 2 rounds in interview and asked to submit documents and soon next day recruiter told me that dont send documents as 2nd round result is negative. I know it's common in IT field, but I still believe it's not a good thing to confuse candidate with wrong info

Additional Posts in Tech

Hi everyone,

I am running into quite similar issues in almost all of the companies I have worked so far: Most of the senior engineers just exclude me in the important technical meetings whereas I am doing an important part (technical) of a project. They either think I am not knowledgeable enough for a particular task or just that I am good at doing some non-technical/manual task. I am the only female in the technical team and how do I address this issue & to whom? Thanks in advance!
