Anyone know Scotiabank bands? Level 06.0 role
Recently started at a new agency with a step up in position and nice salary jump. That said, I find the client / vertical incredibly boring. My agency only does healthcare so switching account likely wouldn’t help. How long would you stay for the sake of not looking bad?

MPLS CD salary range? CD/art relocated to MPLS during covid after a decade in NYC. I have had a unique, non-trad career. Got tapped to head/run/build in-house creative dept. at a high profile international design brand (not target). Truly a unique opportunity. Kicker—company wants to title role ACD but its not, its top creative mgmt role in company—headhunter agrees, can adjust title to CD. But, salary seems low, around 150-170k. Anyone know typical $$ for a CD in MPLS? Thanks!!

P.S - TCS gave 7.5 on top of 5.1 LPA, 6.2 is what i got recently in April promotion for Associate.
To my Product Managers out there: I recently transitioned into a Product Management position earning < 50k. Came from what I would call Product Maintenance. Has no real title to it. I want to find a better opportunity within Product Management.
What are potential career paths & compensation I could earn if I continue this path? I'd like to eventually become a CPO, but that might just be youthful dreaming. What are some absolutely vital skills/certifications you would recommend?

I hate to quit my job as a software developer without another job lined up but I have my reasons behind it. Ive had panic attacks and bad anxiety within the last few months, hard time sleeping at night, I am not happy and I have frequent headaches. I've also been told some people aren't meant to be engineers, says my manager. I have less than 2 years of experience but I'm wondering what would you do in my situation? Would you leave tech or stay in a similar role? Or take a short break?
Anyone feel like they’re dealing with a quarter life crisis? I’m in a great paying job, investing, have a healthy social life, long term girlfriend, etc. but I am just really struggling with the “why?” of it all. Seems like everything is going right and I’m looking for something to be wrong about it all. It’s been on my mind for awhile and not sure how to shake it.
Thoughts on GCI Health for WLB / general culture? Would be coming in as an AS. (Also would love any salary insights you can give! I said around 100 but wondering if there’s more wiggle room there.)

Random testing or planned pre-employment testing? A lot of companies specifically do the later to comply with certain drug free
Workplace rules they have to comply with to be government contractors. Planned pre-employment is also really easy to pass, the coke den of NYC finance is well known for them.
If the company plays a service provider role or has large commercial business partners, they are likely contractually required to drug test employees. Pretty market standard.
Yes. You are TA. Putting aside the fact that there are numerous legitimate reasons a prospective employer could require a drug test, the real problem is your lack of gratitude. Your contact has done you a favor by referring you to this position and probably vouching for you at the same time. In return, not only are you rejecting their nice gesture, you’re doing so because it’s not good enough for you. Most problematic, though, is you are letting your contact know, in an insulting way, that their nice gesture is not up to your high standards. (“I had zero interest . . . ). Right or wrong, your views on employer drug testing don’t excuse bad manners and a lack of tact.
I mean we were having a candid convo about how attractive I find the position. If it’s not a fit it’s not a fit.
Do you do drugs?
A3 as do many things, which is not to say anything about how these qualities naturally vary among the population. Unless a company thinks any marijuana use is likely to signal inadequate memory, attention, etc. for the job then I’m not sure why it would care
Many larger companies have pre-employment drug testing for all new hires. There’s no exemption for lawyers or the in house group - it’s across the board part of the hiring process.
I used to have a same position and i dont smoke. I recently changed jobs and sucked it up. Been 20+ years since i pissed in a cup for a job.
As far as the “AITA” part, maybe. Is your contact vouching for you? Is their personal reputation at stake here?
It also sounds like you are intense with the whole privacy thing, which I get to an extent. But at the same time I’m the 21st century privacy is a little outdated. You do you, it just seems like a hill not worth dying on. Especially since you won’t give your shirt size for a work event? Who hurt you?
My friend referred me to one of their friends for a position. That position isn’t a fit and my contacts friend is no longer involved in the position I’m being considered for.
FYI this might not be a company culture thing. If a company gets any work/contracts from the federal government they have to have all employees do a drug test. This is true with basically every engineering firm bc they all do some gov work.
Maybe. If I was otherwise interested in the position I would have waited until the request was actually made by the employer. Then if you withdrew you could have told your contact that after careful consideration the position wasn’t the right match for you and you were exploring something else.
I have worked in-house for companies that had internal policies in place to drug test for certain roles for legitimate reasons, but the legal department was not included in that testing requirement.
Wow, yeah that sounds crazy
Nope. You are handling it like an adult with clear boundaries. You are well within your rights to not be interested. I suspect your contact has something to gain from you accepting an offer (maybe a bonus?).
They started telling me that I would never break away from law firm life if I didn’t agree because all corporate departments test. I was like, well then maybe corporate isn’t for me?
How can you blame an employer for not wanting drug users in their company?? It’s incredible to see the entitlement these days.
But it’s voluntary, I don’t have to take a job with requirements that don’t appeal to me.
Fyi, big entertainment companies, and even some of the big 4 I had worked for never did any pre-employment or random drug testing.
Yes. They risked their reputation for you and you are refusing to move forward over something that is routine in many industries. Of it mattered to you that much you would have asked about it before applying or early on in the process.
But they referred you to the role. That tells me that they did more than just text you a link for the job posting and told you to apply. This means they know someone on the inside and did something to help lift your resume so you would get interviews instead of getting autorejected.
That means the person used their good repor to help you get a job.
This is simple. Any referrer is going to be annoyed that you backed out for this reason. You’re in the minority here. Most people including drug users don’t care about passing one drug test and will stop smoking for a week or two before the test. So yeah, I’d be annoyed if I referred a person to a job and they didn’t accept for this reason as I’ve never heard of someone caring so much about a drug test. But you don’t owe a referrer anything so ultimately he or she needs to suck it up and move on with his/her life. You make your decisions and should work where you feel comfortable.
Here’s the thing about in-house counsel positions. They’re a department inside of a company, just like any other. They’re subject to the same HR policies as any other department. If the company-wide mandate is all new hires are screened, Legal won’t get a carve out (and it would look worse to ask for one). It has nothing to do with the culture of the company or of the department. I worked for companies where the sales reps were throwing cocaine parties to land deals. But on day 1, they all tested clean.
See what others have said about gov contracts. It’s simple. You take a screen with a lab on your first day, and that’s it, it never comes up ever again. Unless you get hurt at work and bring a WC claim. Then they may want to know if you were under the influence at the time of the accident. But that’s what I saw for the laborers on job sites, not office workers (not a ton of office workers driving forklifts down the halls…)
I say no!
I’ve worked in-house for three different companies, and they all did pre-employment drug tests. Two did random drug tests as well.
Are you likely to fail the drug test or are you opposed to the requirement just…because?
No, you don’t owe anyone anything and especially not committing to a job you’re not interested. Plus, you made the best decision with the information you knew and you only just found out about the drug test so nothing anyone could have done
If it’s one test at hire & then never again do what needs to be done to get the job (if you want it) & move forward. I’ve never had a job that tested afterwards periodically. Very odd nowadays.
I would find it weird if a colony asked me to do this in 2022.
