I was told by my daughter’s doctor that we shouldn’t really send her back to daycare unless absolutely have too at this point since we live in a hot spot that seems to be getting worse. My husband is on this we need to send her back so we can both work regular schedules and we can just keep reevaluating it every few weeks. I honestly would prefer this odd schedule we have and keep her home during this so she doesn’t get exposed. Any moms keeping kids home during this?

Yes, I am! I am refusing to send my kid back to daycare in the current climate. My husband is an essential worker and I am staying home with my kid. Wfh is a challenge but I am not afraid to voice my concerns to leadership when WLB is not respected. Wishing you all the best OP ❤️

I’ve been working 40 hours a week and my husband has been working 45/50 hours. I took last week off and it was amazing. It was so nice not having to keep her busy and try to make sure my work was completed. I don’t know what to do anymore because I know my work is suffering because of trying to do both - being a good mom all day and working all week. I have been working weekends to keep up with my hours but sometimes it’s a full day Saturday. I want to keep her home but I don’t know how to proceed besides going less than what I am already

It’s so hard- no good answers. Texas has had a huge outbreak traced to daycares. I think you’re doing the right thing by keeping her home and safe.

Yep. No daycare for us, likely through end of the year. Our ped told us to avoid it if it all possible. We have family help for a few months but will then need to figure it out. I will likely take unpaid leave.

Nope we are back at daycare and very happy with the new smaller classes and our sanity back for the workday. But we aren’t in a hot spot so are planning to deal with whatever fall wave there is when it comes.

Does anyone have experience leaving their firm and using the pension benefit to negotiate with the new company? I’m not vested and will receive an offer from industry (company doesn’t have a pension plan). Curious to hear what others have done. My pension wouldn’t be huge but it’s a decent chunk of money to walk away from. What are some things that have worked? Additional sign-on bonus, bigger stock grants, etc. Thanks.

Hey ladies. I had a miscarriage July 2021 and my cycle started back up not long after. Then in January it just stopped. It’s been 3 months without my period and not sure what could be causing it (I’m not pregnant). My diet hasn’t changed and neither has my activity. I run marathons but I’ve been doing that for years now and it’s never impacted my period prior. I have an appointment to see my OB in a week but wondering if any of you experienced this.

Many of you have young kids... are there any moms of teens here?

I am at a point where my teen's newfound "independence" is starting to impact my focus and time at work - his running off to hang with friends without permission, etc is becoming a distraction during the workday, and the impact has definitely been noticed by my superiors at work.

The issues with the kid are being handled appropriately - this is more about how to overcome perception at work

Just need to vent. MIL came over for dinner tonight. Our youngest was fussing so she put her up. She wouldn't stop crying so I went up there...well no wonder, you have her light on! So I turn it off and play it off as a let's see if this will help. She calmed down and all was well. Then, she started fussing again so MIL went back up...and turned the light on. Didn't take her out of the crib or anything, just turned the light on and patted her back. Turn the damn light off and keep it off.

Need advice, my brother and his wife have a three month old and aren't the most cautious parents with my nephew. Yesterday, my SIL was giving him a bath and just left him in the tub on the counter to go run upstairs for something. Granted, the water came up to his chest and his head was angled out of the tub, bit still. Also, they leave him on the couch and walk away. I'm worried that when he starts rolling over he'll fall off because they will have developed this bad habit...

There are two bedrooms downstairs so I always thought we’d use one of those rooms as our bedroom so we’re on the same floor with baby but it seems husband wants to stay upstairs. And he’s using one of the rooms downstairs as a home office. We bought this house so cannot move in the short term.

Im in biglaw and this is out of my depth a bit. TIA, Happy Holidays!
