Put your concerns in writing. You don’t need to call out that the 2 that are going in front of the client are guys - just that “Matt” and “Joe” are junior to you, and you’ve done all the work they’ll be presenting. Ask for more context to that decision and that you’d like to meet with the client as well. Even if you don’t call this out as possible discrimination (and at this point, you shouldn’t), a smart boss/team lead will recognize what it looks like and either explain themselves clearly or fix the situation ASAP.
Yep agree. Get it in writing to your boss. If they don’t address it, escalate to HR and/or their boss (if you have a relationship with them)
I once worked on an account where the client CMO flat our said he didn't want women working on his account. We eventually dumped the client but in the meantime had to constantly coordinate so that only men were presenting to him. In reality 90% of the work was being done by women. (I can't believe we did this for as long as we did.) I'm not saying this is what's happening here, but it's worth having a conversation with your team to see if there are other factors at play.
This happened at MSL a couple of years ago and rather than addressing it directly and refusing to accommodate the account, the CEO watched as one person after another resigned - something like 20% of employees in NY resigned in just a few months - and other accounts were lost because of the turnover. And then he was fired a short while later.
This might be missing a little context. Is it that the client knows these two but not you?
I believe you. This is bullshit, love. Since you didn't ask for advice I won't give you any but just wanted to say that.
It sounds like there is context missing. What specifically do they mean by optics and a sense of leadership they trust? Have you asked?
Whatever the real intention/reason is, they would have to provide some kind of context and explanation into the way it’s positioned to you. I’m curious what that the communicated reasoning was.
Have they been on the account longer?
Something is missing here. It’s not just because they are dudes.
