Hi fishes,
Do you follow up with people after an interview? And, 2 weeks after the interview if you don't hear back from HR/ other team?
What's the usual trend?
The Novo Nordisk HEOR team was great, the manager responded with reason for rejection, with guidance on which Dept I'll be more suitable for. Really enjoyed the interview process.
On the other hand, Novartis has gone silent after three rounds of interviews! Do I officially consider myself being "ghosted"?
What do you do? 🤔

Red flag. They are on their best behavior now.
I would be weary. maybe they are cash poor but what does that signal for your compensation (and their capability to pay it). you are sure they won't reimburse? maybe they should fly to you 😉
And before anyone asks “how badly do you want this job?” I don’t know that I want to work for a company that won’t pay a few hundred bucks to get me to town for an interview.
1100 people...$600M revenue... if it’s the company google tells me it is, then they just raised a sizable Series B.
Huge red flag. Wouldn’t move forward.
How small is it? I’ve never heard that happening for bigger companies, and even small startups that are well funded wouldn’t do this
This is not a “startup” by any means man... late stage at best. Likely PE funded if private
Run away . Not a fair ask at all
Are they expecting you to fly in and pay out of pocket or are they suggesting a video interview instead? If the former, I would say red flag but if the latter I think it is a reasonable request.
Or maybe they just have enough talent in Austin that they don’t see the need? Did you contact them for the job or did they recruit you? My friend has BCG refuse to fly them from NY to SF for an interview (offered to skype though). Not that uncommon if you are the one pushing the geography when they were primarily recruiting in that city to begin with. I say go for it if you really want the job.
that is amazingly short sighted. there is a reason we fly each week. In person relationships provide far more cues than a 1 hr Skype call. As a candidate, I want to meet the team in person. As an employer, I want to see how a candidate conducts themself and what cues they provide. 1k for an in person interview is a steal over hiring the wrong candidate.
Did they provide a salary range? Is it competitive?
highly recommend you don't leave without a pay bump in some form
Are you local or flying in from out of state?
Red flag. Weird. Unless they are ALSO not paying for relo
