A guy giving a seminar on networking said that managing directors die a few years after leaving the firm. It became their entire life and it was similar to the stress of a divorce.
If US is an easy or stressful country to live in and how can you make it easy and less stressful for yourself and your family? It is a great country as a collective whole - modern, mostly progressive, collective rich, reasonably decent working government with a few ups and downs and all that. However, at an individual level, it doesn't take long for someone to turn from a well to do person to a pauper.
I have a hypothesis that US citizens regardless of race are no more in a better position than immigrants. I am an immigrant myself. It is not easy for US citizens as it may sound. Many rely on job security to pay mortgage, bills etc. If your job goes away, you are on the road. You are hanging by a thread.
If you get in an accident or have life threatening or chronic illness and your family depends on you, all of the members are adversely affected. You may have insurance to cover medical expenses but that wouldn't help you run a household.
Is there a systemic risk in the US and how can one hedge against that risk? What can you do in addition to exercise and diet to manage the stress? What can you do avoid situation where you do not have a lack of control?

As an immigrant myself I agree with you 100%. It's hard for me to say it confidently, because all my friends are not "all-american", but I also think that American individualist culture is not helping with social safety net. For example, I always know that no matter what happens, my family's doors are always open for me. Worst comes to worst, I'll have a roof and food. While in the US people don't expect their family (siblings, parents, cousins) to help them out when in need. Same with friends.
You mean Sanjay Gupta?
Yes. Sanjay.
That’s very true. A consultant gets BP by 45 and Diabetes by 52 and die young.
