Can anyone attest to utilizing couples therapy and if it worked for you and your partner?
My current partner and I have been together almost 5 years, not married or engaged, but since moving in with each other (going on 2 years) we frequently have petty arguments about cleaning, food prep, etc. Just basic stuff when it comes to maintaining a home. Outside of that, the relationship is great.

I have been with my company 20+ years. This past year they did a sales market restructure - directions from new upper management. The restructure has been less than favorable toward my commission goals. The coming years don’t look promising. There are sales people making $$$ only here 1-2 years because they were given all my opportunities. It is hard to leave this company - it has been great until now with the changes. I have a very strong job offer elsewhere - but worried about non compete.

Anyone getting pressure from parents to drop this type of chaotic job? My younger brother (four years my junior) just had twins. I’m 38, have a gf but not yet married, and likely wouldn’t have kids for another year or so. She doesn’t like my no free time life. Many BigLaw colleagues of mine (even my age) are in the same boat. My father the other day reminded me of the classic and very dated movie Marty. “Hey Steve, you want to be Marty!? All his much younger siblings had a family/kids.” Yikes...

Men: What does this mean? Been seeing him for a month. Asked if he is still seeking out other women. He said no and that he has been enjoying my company. I told him I don’t plan on seeing anyone else and he said the same. He brought up that he wants a serious relationship with me but feels he can’t right now because of a demanding new job. I told him I don’t want to rush into anything serious. He acts very couple-like when we see each other. I am not sure how to interpret this.

Hey guys, I’m a junior AD under a year into my professional career at a big agency and am preparing for an informational interview with a recruiter at an agency that I really admire. They reached out to me out of the blue and showed interest at looking at my book (it’s currently locked because I’m working on updating it).

Any tips on staying centered and productive in our industry while in program? I’m finding the emotional rawness required from program (especially as I work through steps 4 and 5) is making me very self conscious of my impacts on others and I feel like it’s affecting my ability to be a good leader because I’m so in my own head

Forgive me if this is a basic question: I have heard that HSAs are part of most people’s fire journey;however, aren’t HSAs a hazard. You are counting on the fact that you will be healthy but what if you get really sick (cancer) and that money in your HSA is not enough to cover treatment costs?

Is anyone here familiar with an investment calculator that allows you to change the amount you invest each year? For example: invest 20k at age 25, 40k at age 30, etc.

Shorted Twitter because there’s no way that their board will take the money and let Elon bring back Donald Trump. He’ll sell his shares and their stock price will plummet imo

Thoughts on increasing apartment spend from 20% of take home to 30% of take home? I invest 15% in 401k and an extra 2k/month after that. Outside investing would likely reduce to 1500/month. I have been spoiled with low rent (currently have 2 roommates) but looking to move in with bf. 30F.

Could you all please help me with recommendations for a fee only financial planner and financial advisor? And generally, would welcome thoughts on why you went for / against selecting them. I wonder whether continuing to self-manage everything is a good strategy, now that the assets have grown to be sizable.

I’ve started thinking about children as luxury products 😂 They are CRAZY expensive!!

My financial spreadsheets do not like when I start estimating the costs and reduced long term investment opportunities. My significant other’s family (Chinese) would probably kill us (or at least me) if we don’t have a kid.

We are in Boston and the costs are very high. We are both 26, post grad school, combined making ~ 300k/year. No debt.

At what number do you feel like you’re making enough whether to satisfy your desires or just not feel guilty about spending money.I’ve been blessed to have my income raised a total of 85% throughout 9 years but shortly after each raise I still feel like it’s not enough to live by and that I’m always behind. I live in a high cost area and make triple of what my friends make yet it still doesn’t feel enough. Cont’d

I am 31. I have $750k in assets and 400 in liab. Net worth is 350. Largest assets (excluding real estate) are 120k in 401k, 40k in brokerage, 20k in crypto, 25k cash. Own property totaling $550k (2 condos) but debt of 350k so 200k of my net worth is in real estate. Student loans of 30k. Thread continued 👇🏽

Opened a Marcus savings account with 2.2% APY around 6 months ago. rate today dropped to 1.7. Do you think this is due to the market or their business strategy?

My son’s first birthday is coming up and my parents want to gift him $1k in a separate account under his name for him to use in the future. My husband and I make about $250 combined but paying off student loans and a mortgage so don’t have much in assets. My parents only make $50-70k a year. We’re all pretty clueless about money. What would be the best way to invest in his future?

Anxiety attack. Age 40. Only $200k in retirement accounts. Rest is in taxable...

I want to start organizing my money into "buckets" for travel, car expenses, and other savings. Ideally, I'd like to put a certain percentage of my paycheck towards each goal. Is there a way to do that without opening other savings accounts? I don't want to deal with fees. Is that my only option?
