Any advice for a retail manager/hiring manager looking to break into tech as a recruiter. Recruiting is something I’m genuinely passionate about but eager to do on a bigger scale. I hired roughly 150 people last year for my store alone on top of hiring management candidates for stores in the surrounding area. Im just so certain that my drive and skills will be an asset in the tech industry… not to seem cocky. I’m hungry for success and being promoted 3 times in the past 2 years shows it.

Does anyone else get bombarded by recruiters reaching out for roles that are totally irrelevant?? I’m getting so fed up. Three or four times a week I will get recruiters messaging me about very junior product roles - if they had even glanced at my LinkedIn profile they would see that I haven’t been entry level for 10+ years. It’s downright spam at this point. I even have my “open to work” settings configured to clearly specify the level of roles Im open to. Just out here venting! Ugh

Any recommendations for reducing Gas bill? We use Piedmont Natural Gas in NC and I hate to admit, I haven't paid much attention to usage during winter until the bills started piling up.
My January bill was $290 and December at $220. We are two people and a dog in a 4 Bed 2 Bath.

How common has it been for you, when exiting a role, to not be paid out for any vacation/sick/PTO you have in the bank? I have never personally experienced this until now and lesson learned, will be doing my due diligence moving forward.
I’ve been at my job 3 years which is relatively short compared to others on my team. I feel like I have to work twice as hard to achieve near or equal level of recognition. Within S1 I was ranked as “average” when I’ve had greater responsibilities and successfully managed more complex projects. When I asked my boss what I needed to do to be above average he told me to keep going as I am. How does that make sense? If I don’t need to change anything, why am I only “average” now? Any advice please?
I want to live in a quaint cottage in an Irish seaside village easy access to Galway or Cork. I just want a simple quiet life with my spouse. Garden and bake pies. Hike or bike along the Irish countryside. Travel and experience other cultures. This is my dream. Everyone thinks I’m weird that I’m not after the 2 million dollar home with a pool like they are. Why is my dream weird and unattainable. They think I set a low bar. All I need is a job where I can work remotely.
Is there a problem to stay contract with your recruiting agency instead of converting to full time with the company? Should you push to get converted sooner rather than later?

Anybody else feel like they took year 1 of the pandemic for granted, from a perspective of learning new skills / self-improvement? Personally, I feel like I did. Starting in January, I buckled down on myself to play my guitar every day, instead of a couple of times a week. Also, given that D recently communicated we’ll be virtual first until September, I’m trying to up my cooking game, and learning a bit more about home improvement. What new skills / hobbies are you all working on?
