I went out with a new guy from Hinge the other night and he told me "all of the women here (Boston) are over educated with these super inflated job titles. None of the guys I know want to date a woman who's a boss at work" I was so taken aback I didn't even know how to respond to that. Obviously there will not be a second date. Anyone else ever run into this?

I've heard of these stories but never encountered them while dating for years. Dating in DC, every single guy I've gone on a date with expressed that they prefer a boss lady who kills it at work. This makes me appreciate my boyfriend who is like yas 👏🏻 baby 👏🏻 get 👏🏻 it 😭.

I think that was this guy’s issue, insecure about his own level of success and can’t take a woman being more successful than him

I imagine this guy goes on a lot of first dates…

You ask him why he’s out on a date with you to see if he’s different

like

Nope but I’ve heard of this happening. Thank god he showed his true colors early on. He sounds like a lame.

Wow honestly thought these people existed only online. Can’t possible imagine the reaction I would’ve had if a guy said that to me. At least you dodged a bullet before it turned into something more serious.

One guy told me that all girls “needed a man in their lives to make decisions for them” and that he would “love to play that role for his future wife”. I paid the check and left ✌️

They want to date someone who makes very little money so that their fragile ego is not hurt, but then will also complain when they are asked to provide for everything. Can’t win!

Wow the bar is literally on the floor and even then men struggle to reach it. Sigh. Going to go give my bf a hug and apologize for my attitude earlier because apparently I take his total support for me making almost a 80k more for granted

I have definitely been out with guys like that (I'm married now to a guy who thinks being great at my job is amazing), but it happened more the higher up the ladder I got. At least you found out early that he's not worth your time.

Has happened.. one dude who I turned down had the audacity to tell me that I did not have the courage to take risks with him and he did not know what Deloitte paid me for..

Another dude said - no matter how much more you earn than me, I am the man and you will have to relocate to be with me..

Needless to say - those were the last words I ever heard from those dudes!

Yuck - their loss! Keep kicking ass!

Same… happened to me a couple of time. However, I live in the South and just boiled it down to the mindset here.

Unfortunately, he’s right.

Hey, new to investing looking at initial mistakes I made. I have $1k in VOO, $7k in VT and $4k in VTI in my brokerage acct; in my Roth IRA I have $6k in VT and $7.7k in VTI. I know isn’t an ideal portfolio because many of these funds overlap. However I’m in for the long term and am willing to reposition to a strategy that will do the best over my life. Id appreciate to hear feedback on these 2 accounts and better approaches from others. Thanks!

Hello, All! I'm looking for recommendations on inspirational content for women leaders. I follow TEDWomen, many podcasts, and the Women's Conference among other sources. I'd love to hear a fresh perspective on business, trends, tech, marketing, equality in the workforce, etc. I'd love to learn something new. I'm at the VP level and have started a couple of companies, so nothing too junior, but open to many topics. Please share any speakers, books, webinars, or events that you may come across.

Hi Everyone,
I hope life is treating you well.
I recently moved to Ottawa from Louisville, Kentucky, and I am looking for an accounting job in Ontario or Quebec. I have work experience in Tax& Finance and an MBA in Accounting. I was wondering if any of you could refer me for an open position in your company ( after we’ve had a chance to talk, of course) or put me in contact with a member of your hiring team.
Please let me know if any of you would be comfortable doing so.

Thanks,
Sarah

General question about LinkedIn, but I figured recruiters may have a better perspective.

Is it really beneficial to have a LinkedIn premium account over the regular free account? I’m currently looking for opportunities and wondering if it really will make a difference to pay the price and subscribe to the premium account.
Can anyone recommend if, and how it will, or will not help?

Asian women help? I realized my lovely parents have been emotionally abusing me because I’m single. I’ve dated a few people despite not liking them but eventually those people treated me poorly and I almost had anxiety attacks when I turned 33 this year. Parents are great but this is one area which I think they’ve overstepped. I told them recently that in addition to the bad men I date, they are giving me pain and I can’t take it. They said I’m being selfish and speaking therapist lingo. Feel 😭

My coworker’s friend who I met a couple years ago liked me. He kissed me as the bar closed, but we didn’t exchange numbers. We later matched on bumble and he said “should we pick up where we left off.” I didn’t get the chance to respond and he deleted me. Then, I’ve run into him twice recently in Chicago. I asked my coworker if he is single, he said “He sure is!” and gave me his number. We texted briefly but then didn’t respond when I asked if he had any fun plans this wknd. Now idk what to do.

Asking for advice: Hi ladies, how do you tell your SO that you want private time with your friends/colleagues? For context, my SO and I have been living together for 2 years. He doesn’t have a lot of friends and is a quiet type. His current friends are all our mutual friends. We do enjoy spending time just us two a lot, especially during this pandemic. However, I do have a group of colleagues/friends that I’m close to and usually prefer to hang with them seperately. (cont. in comment)
