I went to the Downtown Holiday Market and was kind of disappointed. It was small and simple and almost no decorations besides some string lights. Anyone else feel the same or did you enjoy it?

I feel like those kinds of things are always way better in theory than execution. Like you think it’ll be cute and festive but then it’s just random vendors selling weird candles and knit hats

Miss the European Christmas markets!

Love the Strasbourg one! Berlin and Barcelona while not typical were amazing too for artisanal decorations.

Agree, especially compared to the Union Sq Christmas Market in NY. But it’s cute to get your holiday cheer on, especially at night.

Ha well most pop up markets around here are thinly veiled cash grabs for folks peddling yuppie-friendly knick knacks

But I’ve heard they give discounts if you have a nose ring or man bun

It feels a little smaller than last year for sure, but not by much. I hate going on the weekends so I’ll go by during the week if I can. It’s perfectly adequate for last minute gifts but that’s about it.

It used to be my neighborhood! There was always so much going on. I don’t even recognize it now.

I’m seriously disappointed in the DC Christmas markets. The downtown one is tiny. I spent money to go to the Heurich House one and it was such a bust I almost asked for my money back. I checked out the Baltimore one and it was way better than any of the DC ones I have been too. I have heard the Philly one is amazing too.

Eastern Market had one this weekend that was bigger than the downtown one. I only came by as it was closing, so I can’t speak to the quality of offerings, but I saw a lot of variety.

It's off school property and there will be a bar (thank god), for context.

I did a quick estimation and there’s a possibility that the egg retrieval day might be in the end of my client project. The difficulty is that you don’t know which day it is until maybe 2or3 days ahead. How do you guys handle this last-minute PTO day? Taking the whole week off doesn’t make sense either since it’s end the of project. Thank you!

Starting with our very first IVF cycle this week and kinda nervous 🤞
Nurse says retrieval to happen tentatively around 18th Dec but then transfer can take place in early February too considering genetic testing takes weeks. Is this the norm? Just fearing the team is not unnecessarily delaying things owing to holiday break.

We've had a few instances of possible COVID sick employees that returned with negative test results. Upper management is basically asking if there is something they can do to help control what employees are doing in their off time (ie. going to bars or other places with a lot of people). They even went as far as to mention something about a wedding that 3 of the employees are in together. Can an employer have ANY control over an employee's time off? It seems crazy to think that they think they can.
