I will be going back to work after a STD leave due to stress (both personal & professional). I feel like I'm ready and am looking forward to work even. Today I was told that the insurance company recommends a gradual return to work (3h/d ) for the first few weeks. Now I'm nervous about how that will be perceived by my practice, which focuses on chargeability. I'd rather go back at a 100% capacity to avoid any negative perception. People who have gone on STD leave, what was your experience?

I haven't gone on leave, but I may at some point because personal life is rough and it is hard to muster up motivation for work no matter how hard I try. So thanks OP for leading the way by prioritizing mental health, and please keep us posted!

I did the same thing a few months ago, and I too was concerned with not being 100% chargeable. However, I am really glad I started with 3- 6 hour days a week and built up to a full 40. It takes time to adjust and get back into the swing of things. I also started medication and knew I wouldn’t be able to commit to 100% right off the bat due to side effects etc.

It was really helpful for me to come back little by little the first time… The second time, I just jumped in with 100% utilization, but working with people I felt comfortable with so I could let them know my genuine capacity as it fluctuated

Ah, good to know! My CC is fairly disconnected (I'll be looking into that when I come back) but my pillar lead is pretty involved so I can involve her in this. Thank you for you advice and yes, I'm trying to (wrongly) manage expectations vs what is right for me. Thank you for your advice: I'll reach out to my pillar lead for a chat

I’ve made it 5+ years in a NY M&A practice and have consistent exceeding expectations reviews. I’ve had a few mental breakdowns because of work during this time, but thankfully made it through. I’ve been in a near constant depressive/anxious state for family reasons for the last year and half, and am soon having my first kid. I’m scared shitless that I’ll spiral out of control both at work and at home if something doesn’t change soon. Any suggestions on how to keep this job and keep it together?

Curious what everyone's salary, OTE, and total comp is based on experience.

Assuming my review is good, should I ask for more base, higher OTE for a larger bonus, or more immediately vested equity?

Base: $130k
OTE: $190k
Health & dental: 100% covered
Fully remote
Equity after one year 25%, then accrued monthly for 3 years until 100% vested
YoE in SaaS: 3 years (worked in a different industry for 12 years)

Is it common in the industry for licensed insurance agents to not get any commissions on a referral in which you personally write the policy? Ex: If a current client refers a prospect to our team, I would not receive commission. Additionally, if I write a policy for friends/family I would get a small incentive but it’s a fraction of the commission producers make.
Management is considering changing this going forward. However, I’m not sure how I should react if they keep things how they are now.

Trying to book Hyatt with points for the first time but the room I wanted (21k points a night) is no longer available on the site. There’s one with 36k points a night but obviously way more expensive and not ideal

I feel like no but is there a way to book the 36k and then downgrade/get a refund if a 21k room becomes available again? Tried asking an agent but they just said they weren’t sure

If that’s the case should I just book the 36k or are the odds a 21k becomes available again high?

Having a hard time opening up to my SO about my anxiety/depression. I don’t want to worry her, or have her feel like she has to walk around egg shells. We’ve been together for a year now. Any advice?

I have really been working on myself to start dating and I met someone who seemed pretty cool, but within two dates dropped some massive baggage. His ex was pregnant and it turned out after it was born he found out it wasn’t his. I feel like he hasn’t really dealt with it, and he’s made some really uncomfortable comments about women that are slowly waving red flags, even though he doesn’t say anything directly about me. Would you have a conversation or run?
