I’ve done deposition prep by video before and it wasn’t much different. We could still walk through how to phrase answers, practice lines of questions, etc.
It’s not bad as long as the witness understands not to try and multi task. As long as you have his/her full attention, it should be effective.
The latency can be a pain. It’s generally helpful but I always try to prep in person.
FaceTime always seems to work the best. If you and the witness have an apple product, use that.
Note, I am not an apple fan, but I give credit where it's due. FaceTime seems to curb stomp other video chat apps.
Director 1 - now I have a mental image of FaceTime using his iFoot to crush the Skype App that I will be using. Thanks for the help and laugh.
Don’t bother with video. Instead use a screen sharing. And do real life prep closer to trial.
