I work as a Staff Accountant at ADM. I started 11 months ago and the work feels so repetitive and it’s hard to see growth opportunities in this firm. Is it possible to switch to PA as an assurance associate after working as a staff accountant for a year?

Absolutely! I’ve worked with plenty of new associates that didn’t do the traditional internship and then joining straight out of college! Just remember to not get discouraged from rejections, I got rejected by 3 out of the 4 B4 and like 5 of the top 25 but eventually got a full time associate role after not doing an internship myself! Good luck!

Congrats to you! I have a 2.83 gpa and I know most of the PA firms have a 3.0 cutoff, is it still possible to get a career with any of the top 10 ipa firms

Are you in Chicago with ADM? If so, apply to Baker Tilly. Severe shortfall in the audit associate numbers right now that are actively trying to be filled.

Absolutely, there’s several openings for both entry level and experienced associates. https://careers.bakertilly.com/jobs?stretchUnits=MILES&stretch=10&location=Chicago,%20IL&lat=41.85003&lng=-87.65005&woe=7

What exactly does consulting entail. What field of Consulting have you moved to if the experience fit. Very general question, hoping for past experiences.

my family had a trip to Europe planned for this month. Our first overseas trip since 2019. We also had a trip to a local seaside town a few hours away with a friend and his daughter planned for July. We’ve been to this same town the last 2 covid summers. Well we got covid and had to cancel the Europe trip, so we canceled the local trip because it’s the only other time we could reschedule Europe before 2023. The friend is mad at us even though he has 2+ months to plan something else. AITA?

Just made the switch from a government job to public accounting. Started my new job last week and feeling quite lost. Due to tax day I haven’t met any of my peer or partner yet (remote position) was given minimal direction as what to do with my time (an email with the location of training videos on some systems and topics) so I spent all week watching those. Since I‘ve never worked public before, what’s some advice you can give me? Starting as a supervisor so maybe that’s different too.
