I work at a privately insured addiction treatment facility. My hourly wage is $20/hr. I wanted to move up in position with this company but they already had someone in that position currently. I went to them with a solution that would resolve a couple issues within the current staff and put me into a higher position/supervisor role. They agreed that having me in this role would solve the issues and also that I would be able to handle the responsibility that comes with it. They only gave me $2/hr

Definitely try and negotiate for more. I'm not sure what the market rate is for that role or industry, but if they won't pay that - take the new job for 6 months to get the experience on your resume, and then start looking. By the time you find something new, you'll likely have been in the new role 9 - 12 months and can leave with a better title, managerial experience, and hopefully a higher wage from whatever new job you take.

I just feel like the 8% increase in pay is not a standard rate for somebody going from a position of already having experience to a supervising role. I’ve tried to look it up and standard is somewhere between 15% and 20%.
But I don’t know if I’m being too over optimistic about it or overthinking it too much

I tried to negotiate for more and gave them multiple reasons as to why I believe I deserve more and they shut me down immediately by saying “it’s a new role and they don’t know the value of it yet”. But I feel like they are lowballing me and seeing if I would take the lowest amount available in the budget… I want to be firm with my expectations so that they don’t think they are able to continually give me less than I deserve. But they have someone in a similar role but different hours that makes more than what they offered and he has been in that role for 1month.

I’ve been applying at some other firms (lateral move) and I got an offer from one of them for 95k. I currently make 115k. I’m honestly disappointed, can I use my current salary to get leverage for a higher salary offer from this firm?

Approached by 4x recruiters in the last 2 weeks.

Offers are:
180, same role, SME tech sector
200, same role, big MNC (300k employees)
225, senior role, NYC fintech startup
225, different role, Cybersec vendor

Currently 125 with pretty poor benies.

How can I leverage those offers into more comp where I’m at?

Okay so I’m frustrated and would appreciate any insight to the scenario below.

HR provides an initial offer.
I asked to elaborate on complete benefits package ie conferences, CEU reimbursement (no negotiation yet)
She needs to ask the CEO (not sure why she couldn’t ask the senior HR manager)
I state my salary expectations based on research, experience, education.
She has to talk to the CEO again to find out what is negotiable within the overall package
What’s going on? Ur job is to negotiate?
