I work for a non-profit healthcare organization in Treasury and my main responsibilities is cash management and I have been in this role for 2 years. I feel miserable at my job, some days less than others and some days I just feel overwhelmed and undervalued. I do not get any performance based bonuses and my first year raise was only a little over 2%.. I was hoping this would be the job I would start a family in, but now I want to delay and find a better job. Should I make the move??

I think it's always a good idea to consider moving on until you feel comfortable in your position. Especially if they're not offering raises that even match the rising living expenses. Still, it's always good to go to your bosses first and ask about how much you're paid versus how much they're putting on your plate.

like

Thank you for your feedback! I think I’ll just start my journey to move on as I don’t think my values align with the culture either.

I think the question here would be not so much should you make a move, but rather why haven't you already? The market right now is so hot and there are a ton of great opportunities out there.

like

Thanks for your feedback! I started the job right before the pandemic happened and because it was close to home because I was thinking of starting a family at this job. However, Covid happened and being close to home no longer mattered and I was just getting myself in a deeper hole with staying and being afraid to look outwards. I’ll definitely start to look now!

Do it. Life is too short to be miserabe and overwhelmed. While the job market is hot, its time to make the switch. You've got this.

Thank you for the encouragement! It means a lot and I think sometimes that is what I need is for someone to tell me “you’ve got this”…

Yes make the move so many more well paying treasury opportunities out there!

Thank you!!

To be honest , we can dream to have double digit bonus and rises year after year when you enter new door . Reality is different. Only difference with your current and new would be increment you negotiate at the interview table . Sharpen your skills and get into the market and grab a offer which could keep you happy financially . I also work in cash management side in treasury and this is hard reality for many of my friends . Good luck in your search

Thank you! I appreciate the honest feedback and it helps to know I don’t feel like the only one out there feeling a certain way!

Linkedin is your friend. A loooooot of good Treasury roles are out there right now. I was looking myself 👀 and it looks pretty good!

Hi,
Any plans opening Bangalore office from June?

Are alternative investments a good area to get started in? I’m making a career change from insurance and like asset management, possibly at Northern Trust. They have openings for alternative investment analyst and I wasn’t sure if that is a recommended area to start in or would that not allow for growth? I just don’t want to get stuck in a specialty and not be able to move up because of it. Any advice?
