Whenever I'm in a salary negotiation discussion, the HR asks for my expected CTC.

I tell them a number and they are like - ohh.. that's way beyond our budget, I see that you got a hike a couple of months ago blah blah blah and tell me what they plan to offer - which generally is way below my expectation.

In the spur of the moment, I quickly reduce my expected CTC to be lesser than what I would happily accept. I regret doing that the very next minute. How can I negotiate better?

Hi Everyone, Seeking Carrier Advice.

I received offer from two companies, MPHASIS(in Hyderabad) and Optimum Info System(as Cosultant for Shell India in Banglore). Optimum Info System offered 2.5L more CTC than Mphasis and ROLE is the same.

Which one would you opt considering that Mphasis is a bigger company(terms of employee count) than either Optimum Info System or Shell ?.

Which is a better company ?

I’m currently 6 months into my first job, and I plan on bringing up my salary during my 1 year performance review (we do 1 every quarter). Since our company doesn’t have stocks, my TC would just be base salary + benefits. When doing my research on the market value and average compensation for similar roles in the same location (I’m going to be using levels.fyi), would it be fair to compare my TC with the TC of a company that offers bonuses such as stock bonuses? Work in local government now (8 YOE) and looking to move to GPS consulting; last two years have been heavily focused on technology implementation (non-technical). Anyone willing to provide a referral or even provide some advice?

I asked the recruiter to increase base + bonus by $50k/year, they came back with a $150k sign-on ($50k yr 1, $100k yr 2 - this is on top of the original sign on) - so sort of cover the first 3 years.

Shall I take it or insist putting it into the base? My rationale is once it is in the base, I’ll have a higher jump off point for future promotions or changing jobs to other companies. I’ll get it faster in the sign-on bonus but it goes away after yr 2

Please give me a rough estimate on how much hike we can expect in my annual salary revision. I expected 8LPA when I joined. They gave me 5LPA with a promise of revision in 3months after joining. They inc it to 7.75LPA after 4m and during appraisal cycle gave 25k 11months to make it to 8LPA. In Oct my hike is due, so I would to like negotiate my hike. I just graduated and I have made it pass the third interview which was a two part working interview that I will receive compensation for. I have BS degree in healthcare professions and wanted to know if 40k is too low of salary to start off as a compliance officer for a pharmacy that provides discounted medications.
