I work in clinical research and I’m under consideration to work for another research facility; however I hesitate because it’s a consulting position that can turn to permanent. It’s a huge pay increase (8-10 more) with benefits, PTO, etc. Any thoughts about consulting or temp-to-permanent jobs?

The drawback is you aren't really assured it will turn into permanent, likely, although you can negotiate this. Pretty awesome that it comes with pay increase and benefits - do you mean the contract position or when you are made permanent? Kind of rare to see with a contract position I feel like

Right that’s where I’m stuck. The company says they want to have people grow with the company, but that still makes me skeptical. Yes, the contract position comes with the pay increase benefits like health and dental insurance as well. Once you’re hired on, you move to the company’s benefits

I just wouldn't take the position if you're banking on the move to permanent, if I were you. If the consulting job is attractive as-is, go for it, and consider a move to permanent to be a bonus down the line. But if you need permanent, seek a permanent job elsewhere. I don't trust "grow with us" promises.

I don’t trust it either. I totally agree.

Hi everyone, this is a question on Health Spending Account.
Does the UK have a health spending account like the US, where, similar to a Roth or ISA, the money you put in this account will not be taxed so long as you spend for health reasons.
Through my company, we are using Vitality services for our healthcare and we have a Personal Health Fund, but we cannot more cash to it. And to make it more annoying, this money does not roll over to the next year.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I am hiring a Senior SOX Analyst for my company (remote, local, doesn’t matter)… I see a lot of resumes come through from candidates at Managers, Sr Managers level …with way more experience than me (I’m at 12 yoe). Have you hired someone who has 4-6 years more experience than you, and how well did it work? I am afraid someone more experienced may be hard headed (it is my department), and it would create conflicts if they don’t agree with my decision making. I am very open minded in general.

As I getting older especially after becoming a mom, the more I sense the discrimination towards working moms in the engineer field. I can see the manager’s attitude suddenly turned. Not sure if any female engineers like to share thoughts?
