I work in fixed assets and r&d tax at a senior level. Can anyone suggest me ideas to get out of this into something more challenging/interesting😢. I was hoping to get into real estate valuation, but it looks like everyone is looking for experienced people.

I was in the same position and team as you a year ago. I switched to a job in industry doing fp&a for capital investments. I work with engineers so the R&D background is helpful and so did my fixed asset knowledge when dealing with large asset investments and their bs/p&l impact. Options are out, you just have to find the right fit. You have the experience - it’s all about selling yourself and your experience for the position.

Our firm is establishing our target billable %'s at a small public accounting firm. Is there a website that gives target billable time % by staff level for the tax and accounting industry? Just started poking around the AICPA website, but would appreciate being able to save some time looking for it. I'm used to a lower % rate than what's being proposed (70% vs 85%) and don't want to cause undue pressure on staff, but do want to give a reasonable billable hours expectation going forward.
