I work in New York State (Rochester) and the company I work for goes out of their way to change our hours to only 40 hours. I clocked in 45 this past week and have done so many times. I know it’s against the law to not pay overtime, but where do I report that?

your employer should have Ethics Point or some variant of it

They are a private company

If you are salaried, there is most likely no need to report it unless you want your boss to know how hard you are working. If you are hourly, it must be paid, even if you were told not to work more than 40 hours. That aspect can be handled through disciplinary action.

Having confidence to take the next step in your career is all about the process.

Thoughts —> Beliefs —> Actions —> Outcomes —> Repeat

This virtuous cycle is a continuous feedback loop that builds on itself.

Focus on positive thoughts and let the negative ones float on by.

When thoughts become beliefs, take action.

Outcomes give you data to help adjust your approach and build confidence.

Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

You can DIY.

A coach will get you there faster.

advice: asking for more money. currently making around $52k in an entry level position to my team. I know they’re considering me for a new opening coming in Q4, I’ve spoken with both my manager and VP about my career goals. I’m pretty sure that they’d fill this role anywhere in the mid 60s. if I were to get it, that’s a 10k pay bump for me, and I desperately need it. is that normal? I’ve never been in this situation b4 and want to make sure I get paid adequately but I’m young and have 0 insight.

My manager has been making me do eligibility checks since I was hired about 1 year ago. I've been pushing for a raise and now I'm finding out that this was never on my list of duties in my job description. How can I use this to my advantage and not cause any bad will with my managers?

Hey fishes, what's the salary range for a finance manager, with 15 years experience should be?

January, I got a promotion to store manager of a Metro by T-Mobile. The job however came with a mandatory 60hrs/6 day work week. And salary at $1,000 a week. There are no benefits, PTO, or even holiday pay. I get a commission on my sales with how things are now a days, it's like an extra $400 a month. I'm not really happy, and am having doubts about staying here. Is this a good salary? At $16.6/hr i feel as it's not.

Payroll people this question is for you! I recently got approval for a pay adjustment and was told the new rate would take effect 7/17 pay period. I still have to sign off on my time card from last pay period with old rate and boss has to submit tomorrow. My employee portal still shows old rate even though new rate was supposed to take effect today 7/17. Should I be concerned or will new rate populate after I get paid on Wednesday?

A recruiter called and said I am a final candidate for a role I’ve been interviewing for. They told me they are thinking mid to low $60ks but when I originally spoke to them, they gave me a range of $58-$68k. Then they asked me what my salary expectations were and I was transparent and told them for the role and my experience $68-$80k was the range considering the role is essentially 3 jobs in 1. I told them I’m happy to consider the full offer. Should I be concerned they won’t offer me the job?

Looking for what salary range is good for an Agency System and Quality Control Coordinator with 3 years experience using the system. They have listed the range as 34k to 57k but I feel this is low.

@internationalrescuecommittee How is the pay and what advancement opportunities are there? It seems like meaningful work.

So I accepted a new job at a higher base of 75k but is it weird in an investment bank they do not offer a laptop or headset everything is done on the employee’s personal devices?

Hello guys, does anyone know what the salary range for a junior HR generalist is in Vancouver, Canada? I have an interview soon and I am sure they will bring up the salary talk!

Like a lot of others, I’m underpaid. I’ve been with my company for 3 years having worked various roles and have been working as a researcher for a couple years now.

Our org is restructuring and part of that is salaries are being reviewed and adjusted.

What are the chances I get the adjustment I deserve? They will need to bump me up 35%. Am I being foolish or do I need to look elsewhere?

Hello, I need advice on salary negotiations at my current employer. Got offered a HR management role @ $62k a year. The average salary in SLC is $73k. Someone less than 1 year of experience earns $69k. I’m also PHR certified and have 5+ years of progressive experience in all functions of HR. Anyone in the outdoor or sporting goods industry with a company size of 250-300 employees? TIA

I am currently a B4 intern in IT audit. I should be receiving a full time offer soon. I was wondering if campus hires with prior internship experience might be able to negotiate the offer?

Hello everyone!
I’m currently working as an Optimization Associate, which in my company is a step above a project manager. Our team didn’t have a scope for the majority of my tenure, so I was practically doing E2E PM & process improvement for multiple teams. I’ve asked for an off-cycle salary increase (35%) because I’ve been performing at a higher level than my job entails far before my promotion to the role and I’m currently excelling. How likely would the company accept it?

Should I ask about the salary range or budget during the HR screening call if they don’t bring it up? I can’t get a good estimate on all the online tools.

Even though some job postings include the range, the recruiter still asks me what my desired salary range is? Im totally fine with the salary range posted in the job description - that’s why I applied. Do you guys usually give a higher number or just narrow the range down but stay within the salary range posted with the job description?

After increasing my fixed salary in Spring, the company is announcing that comes January, they will drop my fixed salary by 15% keeping my total targeted compensation at the same level but with a bigger % of variable « bonus ». All this is under the pretense of uniformisation of the structure accross the country. I don’t seem to have a choice or a margin of négociation. But I am a very valuable asset. Any advice?
