I work in security in NYC.

Have had around 2.5 years in security doing mostly automation of Detection/IR as well as Vulnerability Management/Appsec in a bank and currently at an insurance group.

Automation and web dev skills are strong, and have good tooling experience.

Doing interviews for an appsec engineer role.

What can I ask for in terms of compensation in NYC?
Any thoughts or actual numbers you have come across for a similar profile?

You seem like you're in a pretty good spot to ask for solid compensation. The housing/apartment pricing in NYC is currently shooting up, so you should be in a position to ask for more than what may be the average rate.

Appreciate the response!

I figured as much.. but would you have any idea on specific numbers we're talking about here or anything you've seen?

Specific numbers are going to be a bit tough, but you want to poke around Levels and Glassdor at similar sized companies/sectors. Won't be an exact thing but gives you an idea

Appreciate it! Didn't know levels was another resource so that's really helpful! Thank you!

Hello!

I finished my final round(s) for a TAM position at
Google (GCP) last week and was told by my recruiter that my feedback was great and that I made a solid impression on the team and am "firmly in the running". I was supposed to hear back this week (according to the recruiter) but he just told me that it's still in the process and that I'll have to wait for another week or so.

Is this common at Google ? I have heard they are notorious for being really slow with their hiring process.

Seen a lot of “my company is so amazing posts” continuously on LinkedIn a la “here at XYZ we give people lots of time off and it’s amazing” or even “so happy XYZ company allowed me to take maternity/paternity leave” - are folks just trying to look like team players or do employees get some sort of incentive for doing this at companies? I feel like the folks I see that work at Salesforce (for example) do this constantly and more so than other big companies.
