I work in the timeshare industry for the last 10 years, but dying to get out. We book sales meetings with travelers and basically speak to every Type of person. I was always a top performer and now lead a top team. Its not easy and most fail. I made lots of money. I want to change careers and move to tech sales as a SDR or CSM but all my exp is in B2C instead of B2B. Can you guys give me any advice on how to break through?

Timeshare sales is hardcore. You are 10x the sales person than most in tech. You can get an AE job...you just need someone with a brain to interview you.

Thanks, in my experience on interviews, no one has a clue about the work. They just share that their parents have one and they use it

I work with great people. Really can’t say anything bad about my firm in general either. But…I still dislike the entire premise of law firm life, the billable hour, etc.. First world problems I suppose. I’m very thankful to have a job ❤️

I’ve built a reputation I’m proud of @ my company. I’m underpaid for what I do (started as an intern) & recently asked for a market adjustment. Management acknowledged that I’m undervalued & plans to set me up for a promotion. It’d come with more responsibility, which doesn’t align with my goals.

Is it wise for me to remain open to a promotion just for increased pay? Or should I be transparent with management about my goals (& possibly not get the pay I’m asking for)? Or any other tips?

"Everybody can be a leader" some say... "Leaders are nurtured not born" say others... True.

But... this is also true: "not everybody wants to be a leader" (whether they can or can't be). It is a fairly common practice in organizations with traditional career management structures for people to "be promoted" into leadership roles as the "end steps of the corporate ladder" that was climbed doing technical work. And, unfortunately, this doesn't work all the time
