I work with an alcohol brand that wants agency to handle buying their alcohol in stores or online and shipping them to production in Canada. I do not want the bottles to get stuck in customs and am trying to figure out the best way to avoid issues. I’ll need to send about 75 bottles.

If fixing it in post is an option, does that mean the only difference is the label? Can you have a graphics/print shop print the US labels and the art department can swap them out onto the Canadian bottles? Or if you don’t want production to deal with that, you could send Canadian bottles to a print shop in Canada to re-wrap them themselves.

like

Go on Upwork and find a logistics agent. Or look up a company called Comtrad, either will help you manage that. There’s too much to learn about shipping and customs so I highly suggest you get help from either. I had to import $100,000 worth of electronic hardware (non-consumer grade) goods from China and getting help from Comtrad was essential.

Seeing all of these suggestions for solutions is why I love fishbowl. Good luck OP! Let us know where things net out if you can.

Can you send empty labeled bottles or have the client provide a roll of labels?

like

If the label printing isn’t an option, can you buy them, pour out the liquor and add it back in on the shoot- just take the empty bottles somehow?

like

Can you not buy the bottles in store in Canada? Will they need to be opened on set? Could you use a carnet service?

like

The Canada bottles are different than the US bottles. An option is to fix it in post though

If you DM me I can give you the email of the sales manager at Comtrad.

like

Can you hire a few Canadians to go across the border via ground, stay the amount of time that will allow that amount of alcohol to come back? What’s the value of 75 bottles?

like

Ship them empty.

like

Empty shipping and then filling in Canada is your best bet. Or I saw someone else suggest getting labels and bringing them with but then you have the arduous process of removing and reapplying - hopefully you have a good art department for that. Buying in us and shipping is going to cause issues unless you have tons of time
