I work with an “of counsel” that thinks everyone is super incompetent. So, I refuse to proofread work I send them. Nothing like letting them win their stupid mind games. Especially when they don’t realize that they’re never gonna be a partner (as heard from partners 🫠).

Why do firms keep people like that? They’re clearly not a rainmaker, and they bring down morale + no longterm potential. Why isn’t the firm honest with them? Just tell them they have no longterm future there… firms are annoying

This past week I got an envelope hand delivered to me by a student I do not teach. In it was a trans pin she had bought for me, as well as a drawing and a letter of thanks.

Again, this is not my student, but I think this speaks to the power of visibility. Students need to know we are members of society. All I did was wear my own trans pin and “love is love” pin on my lanyard, and my trans flag mask (occasionally).

But for that student it was enough.

Kind of niche question here but under NY CPLR, if a plaintiff files a MTD/MSJ, and then the defendants file opposition papers containing information that the court had previously ordered to be kept under seal, would you a) file a reply asking to seal/strike the opposition papers or b) file a separate OTSC since you’re now seeking additional relief not sought in the original motion?
