I work with kiddos that have multiple disabilities K-6. Our district is doing distance learning. Yup, computer learning for students who may or may not be able to see, walk or talk. I was wondering what other teachers are doing for their kids who are in this situation?

I did daily meetings with them/ caregiver. Hearing my voice, etc. was helpful for some. I also arranged for material pick up/ drop off for them. I included all of the things we use on a daily basis with them and then switched out any rotating material. I also have a couple of students that use alternate communication techniques/ devices. I was able to use co-vid speak for our 1:1 meeting. The program works like Google meet or zoom but turns your screen into annAAC device with communication buttons around the frame. You can adjust to your needs - for example one of my students uses eye gaze and I am able to use this with him. It definitely is not as good as in person but it has helped

I teach that level at high school. Our district has agreed to allow face to face for my students even if we go virtual. Parents are in agreement. Most of my paras agree, too.

I also teach students who have multiple disabilities. For some students the learning objective is engagement or participation. It’s fun teaching them to use a computer....transitions used to take 20 minutes, now most students can transition to different tabs within a minute.

Does anyone know if recruiters know whether. candidates applied and didn’t get a similar job on the same company 6 months before? For context, I applied to a role in a company on a team that matches my skills best, but had applied and went through the final round of interviews for the same company on another similar role in another team (different recruiters) but got rejected. Should I bring it up with my recruiter on the current job interview process?

Just a question, maybe more of a vent, but I have been a paralegal for almost 6 years and worked in 3 different law firms and there is always 1 partner that just doesn’t want to do any work but also doesn’t want to retire. And I have always been the main/only paralegal for them. They are always confused about how to practice, don’t remember or just avoid the work. I have no idea how to manage them and get my work done. Any tips?

Hello Fellow Fishies! I have taught for eleven years as a gen ed teacher, using my sped cert unofficially. I am excited to begin teaching as an inclusion teacher within three- 7th grade classrooms.
I've been given a budget to spend, but do not really know what I'll be needing, as I'll be in other teacher's classrooms.
What is helpful for you that you have purchased or wish you had purchased? I'm not looking to spend money just for the sake of spending it, but I do have $300. Thank you!

I am a sped teacher in a high school. Autism Spectrum Disorders are not my area of expertise and I need someone who can help me with behavioural and academic interventions. He has a low average verbal composite and FSIQ on the WISC-5 but after that is very low to extremely low in composite scores for visual spatial, fluid reasoning, processing speed and working memory. The student is duel diagnosed and has a specific learning disability. I am running out of space. See next box.

Iowa uses the Internet for IEP progress monitoring data collection. In addition to collecting our data, we are required (or at least supposed to...) put our data into the computer every two weeks. The putting it into the computer in a timely fashion is where almost every teacher in our building struggles. I use a paper "spreadsheet" to see progress or lack thereof, but does anyone have tips for an easy process to input data into the doggone computer every two weeks?
