I worked as the sole developer for a small ecommerce site for a number of years and just joined a larger firm a few months ago. I'm lacking in the basic communication skills the others all seem to have, any tips?

It can take a while to adjust to new company culture, so don't be so hard on yourself. Can you give examples of what you mean?

Just be reachable online, try to ask all the questions for your task and if you are blocked ask for help :)

This is the key. Be available and make sure you ask enough questions that you are sure of what you are doing.

I'd say give yourself time to adjust. If you're used to working solo, there will be a period of getting used to how/when/why to communicate with others. You'll get there :)

Yes absolutely. Don't expect yourself to be perfect right away. You have the developer skills and the rest will follow suit as you start to apply yourself. Good luck!

I recently decided to slow down communication with one woman on my team because she is constantly trying to have social conversations about her personal life/beliefs and it was super distracting. She noticed that I had been responding less and completely went off on me!!! Why are people like this? This woman is close to 40 and I am 2 years out of college. Is this behavior normal/has this happened to anyone else before? I swear I feel like I’m in middle school again.

Need advice. I’m panicking. Missed deadline to respond to the Complain, for a matter pending in the Eastern District of CA. The deadline was Friday (1/29). Today plaintiff granted an extension to respond the Complaint. I’m filing a stip tomorrow in the am. I’m worried because the stip is clearly filed after the original deadline. This is my first time missing a deadline. Talk me off a ledge.

I recently got interviewed for the Business acumen team(PWC AC Kolkata) and done with all 3 rounds. My interview went well but they haven't got back to me since last 3-4 weeks. HR told me that they are yet to get a feedback and suggesting to wait. Anyone else facing the same?

Any thoughts or experience on Manager of Analytics v. Sr. Manager of Analytics v. Head of Analytics titles? Is that a typical progression for an analytics career? Any titles I’m missing? What are the biggest differences between the titles? Any estimate for years of experience in the field associated with each?

I know this is a long question :) Answers to any small subset of this question would be greatly appreciated! I understand one answer to the entire question is a lot.

All, this is my first post and I just want to share that I passed the first Amazon interview for Technical Program Manager and am heading to on-site virtual interviews! I have 20 years of corporate tech in a traditional F500 company (top 50). The only thing I can say that I like about my current job is the work-life balance and some of the people. But the work itself is soul crushing and the industry is stagnant. To those who are 40+ years old, is it crazy to change now?

This may be an unpopular opinion.

But I think it's kinda shitty that when FAANG people get laid off, everyone feels bad for them and they get so many resources to get rehired, but the same is not true for people that get laid off at smaller lesser known organizations.

Like those FAANG people will be fine, they got generous severance packages. The people who actually need help often get overlooked or are forgotten.

No idea about team/culture/stability differences yet.

The non-work factors I'm debating are:
1. Cost-of-living (housing!). Could probably afford a nice ~$1.25M SFH in Seattle suburbs sooner than a fair $1.5-2M near Cupertino.
2. Public School quality. Unsure private will be affordable.
3. Weather/region: activities
