It’s really not that bad. Use video calls for all meetings, schedule intro meetings on people’s calendars during the first few weeks and ask questions. Virtual onboarding really isn’t that different than in-person onboarding

like

Trust me, you will be on video calls for 8 hours a day, it will feel just like in-person

When I was at the firm, my team didn’t use video nor cared to actually.
I’ve actually appreciated the video calls at my new job, it makes the interaction easier for the time being. Also, new team has been very accommodating and helpful. They created a onboarding guide & agenda for me on what to do or expect next few months. Just set up 5-10 mins with different people in the department you’ll work with, find out from your manager who you’re expected to work with so you can take initiative to introduce yourself to them.

like

I have the opposite experience - my new agency is almost always camera off and as draining as video calls are, I miss seeing faces and getting the personal connection/recognition. Definitely think it’s making the transition harder

Are you joining or leaving kpmg?

I’m a senior... I can do PA. Can’t deal with some nasty people and politics anymore. Not that I’m saying that KPMG doesn’t have politics.. but I just need a new environment for my mental health... and a pay raise and nicer team

Hi all! I’m at a crossroad and I need some advice. I have 1year experience with Microsoft as a Business ops associate. And before MS I was with Amazon for 2 years. I want to pursue my Masters and after talks with my current manager I was told I’d be promoted within 2years if I stick around, even without a Masters. It doesn’t sound promising though. What do I do in this case? Do I quit from MS now and go study or hold on? TIA!

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to avoid entering your work history dates beyond 15 years on those online applications that will not submit unless you enter dates! I was advised by job experts not to include any jobs over 15 years, but that will limit me to two jobs which do not reflect my scope of experiences. I had no idea it would be this difficult returning to work after retirement. Thank you in advance for any help in this area.

Should one add their personal technology that are currently used for remote work on their resume? Seems most companies will provide the hardware and software needed. However, it’s unclear if the employer will provide this through Teamviewer/VPN connection or will send an actual computer. Along with this, would it be pertinent to add your internet capability (speed, fios/cable/satellite/dsl)?

Hey I have worked in the truck industry for a while now with heavy haul and regular haul experience. Just thought I’d see what kind of jobs I can get remotely. I originally was going to go to school for special effects and animation with computers. I have extensive knowledge with computers. Is there any good sites I can visit with jobs hiring remotely with good starting pay?

Hey fellow Fishes,
