I would love to leave nyc and get a big house in Florida or somewhere warm. However it feels that all of my jobs are in nyc. I work in capital markets/ focus on securities. I look for jobs and I'm like they're all in nyc. Anyone have any advice?

Rent a house there for the next 6 mos and prepare to go back to NYC in 2021 and return to normal because that’s what’s going to happen

Learn trust and estates law so you can serve all the potential clients in Florida.

Look at national job boards and try to connect with the county bar association in the area you want to move to in FL. I did it 5 years ago, moved from the northeast to Florida. I luckily got a job offer right before I moved. I did take a pay cut.

As a Floridian who moved up north for work in an adjacent practice area: there's a good amount of cross-border securities work in South Florida. There's also a bunch of fly-by-night/dubious characters in that space down that way. If the latter doesn't bother you, it's doable.

1 year out of school w/ 6 months of experience doing contract work as an ERP consultant , currently working with a strategy firm (6 months ) ... liked the technical stuff way more . But both are startups and feeling discouraged because I can’t seem to land an interview anywhere in the industry for any type of entry level consulting roles . Got an offer from big firm but blew it because clearance process took too long . Should I give up and switch industries ? No idea what to do ...

My current H1 is till end of 2020 and I went for H1 transfer with different employer. They processed in premium and it got approved till 2021. But now they said my joining date is postponed 2 months.

My Hinge profile references wanting to be a DINK (I figure IYKYK) but also clearly states "does not want children" ...

And yet I get so many responses from dudes who ask "what's a DINK" with profiles that clearly state "want children"

I just want to throw my phone down a sewer.

Hi All,
I wish to join one of the top consulting firms like McKinsey, BCG, B&C etc. I am currently working as a Business Analyst with a work ex of 3 years.
I have started exploring on my own and one thing that came out different were Case Studies interviews and I have started reading and preparing for them.
I will do MBA also post working in one of these firms.
I was hoping if anyone can help me to prepare better or suggest a plan to land a job for a role that aligns with my ambitions.
Thank You

I have three years of experience as a supply chain controller and a buyer with a master's degree in Purchasing. But I would like to change my career to an analyst role in Purchasing Eg: Pricing analyst or sourcing analyst.

If I want to switch to an analyst, I need three months to learn all the essential software(already been unemployed for more than 4 months).

Do I wait and learn skills to get in to the analyst role or should I continue my career as a buyer? Please drop your suggestion🙏

My coop board in NYC is charging me $650 to repair the intercom system in my unit. They didn't tell me the charges beforehand. From what I remember of property law 11 years ago, I thought I wasn't responsible for anything within the walls? Does anyone know anything about this or have recs for a great LL/Tenant lawyer in NYC?

I have been reading posts from newer associates about bad things partners have done or said to them and I think it could be fun for some of us more senior lawyers in the bowl to tell stories of mean things partners did or said to us when we were new associates. Hopefully it stays mostly light and not horrible things.

I’m a junior litigation associate at a small firm, and the managing partner says things like “you aren’t providing value to the firm” or “you’re being paid to avoid mistakes like these” when I make mistakes due to, what I believe, to be a lack of guidance and instruction. As in, they could be easily avoided with a “please keep in mind X” or something like that. Thoughts?
