This question might anger some, but not meant to be provoking. Does anyone else feel that half the jobs in tech (scrum master, project manager, product manager, etc.) are more hindering than helpful? I feel like productivity would sky rocket if we didn’t have 10+ hours a week added of admin work/agile ceremonies/status meetings, and you just let developers and analysts do their job. Why are we spending hours learning how to estimate story points (for example) rather than improving production?

Had a recent job offer from Amazon TC 146 K sign on bonus 42K RSU 508 for a L6 Sr. Program manager based out of Nashville. This is barely more than the amount I make now(actually base is lower than what I make). I’m planning to ask for about 18% more, is that a high number? At work during casual convos I can see everyone’s insecurities on their faces when I say something they don’t understand.

A shame they don’t realize it’s not them, I’m just weird *shrugs*

I have never experienced the glass ceiling. I’ve always had advocates, men and women as I’ve come through the ranks AND I’ve worked my ass off. Next step c-suite? No, boys club.

NDA’s are bullshit. I get if you’ve got work that’s confidential etc etc. (but how many of us are designing the new laser beam eye implants for iPhone?)

But mostly they are just used to force people not to talk shit about things they absolutely should be talking shit about. Think how successfully they’ve been used over the years to silence women who were paid off after suffering abuse. Or you’re forced to sign them to get severance packages. It’s just one more myriad of ways workers get F’d.

In need of advice: How do I get my boss to be more involved and/or help? I’ve some the unspeaking and said I’m overwhelmed.
