I’ve got a quick question. Does companies allow people to work on another part-time projects (freelancing), during their employment? Most companies have restricted their employees to be involved in such side gigs, right?
Then how do people freelance? They do it without letting the company know?
Any media hounds out there? I’m looking to hire some good (S)AEs and AMs that are looking for a move and want somewhere they can focus on B2B media relations and pitching and minimal admin - hit me up

Elementary art teachers. I have been teaching the artabet from Ron Mulvey out of Canada. He teaches 6 basic lines to learn and how to draw using the lines. Round and round, back and forth, up and down, zigzag, wiggle wiggle and dot dot dot. It has been a success for me.
Additional Posts in In-House Counsel
Has anyone made the switch from in-house corporate/private industry to an NGO or large scale non-profit? Wondering if market comp varies greatly or if I can expect similar pay…
moving in house soon from biglaw (where I've practiced for 10 years). How do you keep track of your CLE requirements? At my firm we have someone who reminds us when certain requirements are due/ missing. Anything else I should be aware of? Thanks!
Any strong feelings against going in-house in a junior corporate counsel role? I am currently interviewing at Assurance IQ and Smartsheet, and I'm excited about them both.
FWIW, I'm at a boutique law firm, and while there is still lots of learning I could do, I don't think the niche is a good fit, and all signs are telling me to leave. I'm a 2019 grad, did a year-long state clerkship, and have been at this firm for just under 1.5 years.
Tax counsel jobs seem to be rare, compared to the more common tax senior analyst/manager/director roles. Anyone have any insight into compensation and whether companies put a premium on JDs? Looking at HCOL areas for 5-8 yrs of exp and want to understand reasonable salary bands.
What’s the best way to prepare for a transition to a new company with a new in-house team and a new manager? I have two weeks before I start and trying to get a head start before my new work load piles up. Should I focus on refresher books, or courses for soft skills or technical skills? What may be helpful to think ahead of time for smooth integration once the roller coaster starts?
What is the difference in the work or day to day for inhouse at a tech company vs. inhouse at a media/entertainment company? Is the legal work itself largely going to be the same?
Any Director of compliance/counsel for F500 open to sharing salary range? Weighing an offer and feel like it’s light for 15+ YOE.... $220k base, 20% incentive potential....
Regretting moving in-house. I was an 8th year associate at a v10 biglaw firm but moved in house six months ago and am regretting it. The pay has been hard to stomach but the bigger concern is that the hours and work are not what I expected. Is it too late to go back to a firm since I was so senior when I left? Should I just stick it out a while longer and then find a new in house job? Appreciate any advice.
What are transitions for a third or fourth year big law m&a attorneys?
What is reasonable comp for those positions?
I just started in house as a second attorney in the entire global company, and first IP attorney in the US. This is my first in house position, I have 10+ YOE. I often get emails like “can we share the attached document w company X?” Or “do we have rights in ___? Country Y govt wants to know” And literally that’s it. Zero context. I’m thinking of setting up a standard email response asking to provide context methodically, like an intake form or something like that. Does anyone have any ideas?
I prefer transactional law but ended up with a litigation firm out of school (still inside yr 1). Too soon to look for in-house gigs or should I try switching firms first?
Hi Fish. Recently moved in-house to a newly public tech company. People are great, but the team is really understaffed. No paralegal or assistant- we are doing everything ourselves. Is this normal for in-house? Have been working close to big law hours in addition to doing all basic admin for the group. Seriously considering a return to biglaw. Am I being crazy?
I received an offer I can’t turn down. My company had a few others leave recently, and my close counterpart is on vacation until October, so the GC and rest of the company will likely be in disarray after I leave.
Any advice on how to put in my 2 weeks? I’d prefer to leave on a good note and not a sour one…
I have one pro bono case that I kept when I left my firm to go in house. It’s a matter completely unrelated to my company and I have malpractice insurance through the nonprofit organization associated with the case. I’ve made clear to my client that I’m repping this client in my personal capacity. No one has asked me specifically about pro bono stuff at my company - if I know there’s no conflict of interest, is this something I should disclose? To whom should I disclose this?
Hey there! Interested to know if anyone has worked with an executive or career coach. If yes, did you find the experience helpful? Why did you go and what did you learn/do? Thanks!
