So I read this trick somewhere to save money on luxury purchases. I tried it and it works. Basically, go on Net A Porter, set the region to any European country or Britain so you pay in Euros and Pounds. Then, once you checkout and put in a shipping address in the U.S. no additional duties will incur (I guess technically it is all inclusive). Because the currency now favors US dollars over Pounds and Euros, not only would you save from “no duties” but also a small conversion advantage. I bought a handbag that costs $1450 in the U.S, pre tax on Net and Porter. I paid like $1180 in total. No additional duties incurred as the price is inclusive. However make sure to you a zero foreign transaction fee credit card and ensure that you will 100% keep the item as if a return is initiated, the duty portion will not be refunded. In my case, I tried out the handbag I liked in Neiman Marcus so I was sure to keep it. It saved me over $300.
Great tip! Have any Canadians tried this?
As an FYI — you may very well get an import bill from US customs in a few weeks... happens almost every time I order something overseas.
@OP - European duties? (Which are always included in the price) or US import duties? If the latter - awesome!
Thank you!!
Wow surprised this works. Good tip

Also guys, I am a bit depressed. I might have received a fake 😞 the bag tags didnt come attached but rather opened and put into the box, i suspect a previous buyer returned a fake. The one in neiman marcus had a bit of a different coloration on the metal chain. Does anyone have a YSL niki in any form and wouldn’t mind me asking for a few photos
Yikes. Try Purse Forum!
Same principle used to work for airline purchases too!
