I’d like input!

I am currently a charge nurse and am in a “Pathway to Leadership Program” that will come with promotions into leadership/administration. I am concerned that going through the leadership ladder will lead to a lot of politics.

I am thinking of getting a masters of healthcare informatics, and would love input from people in both industries and any advice you have!

Would you continue into the nursing leadership ladder or go into health informatics (which also has leadership!)?

I think you will have a much healthier WLB and higher pay for less work if you go into the health informatics route!

Thank you for the feedback!

Agree with above - also the politics aren't always a necessary thing, but it's good that you have the foresight to consider it. I would definitely look at some of the comp/description for healthcare informatics role before going for the masters

Thank you! I certainly will.

For sure it will lead to politics. But there’s politics everywhere. Just realize that once you are in leadership you have to implement things you might not believe in. and it seems like where I work they’re always coming up with some new policy that everybody hates. If you try to stick up for the workers you will not make it long as a leader because management will not appreciate that. You have to be willing to make people do things you don’t believe in. Unless you do believe everything upper management wants to do then that’s a perfect job for you ha ha I hope you’re not like that

Good morning!

Still trying to figure out this whole Fishbowl thing, so here goes my first post.

I would love to get into provider credentialing, but all employers I've looked at want at least 3 years of experience. So, I'm looking at Provider Network Coordinator roles, because I'm finding some of those roles don't need AS MUCH experience. I'm a RHIT, and have been working in healthcare for nearly 10 years.

Any input on employers is appreciated!

After having attended a few interviews, I have seen the HRs sending a message stating that they have moved ahead with other candidates and have asked if I need any sort of feedback from them regarding my assessments/interviews. When I actually do request them to provide feedback, I get nothing back from them. Not sure if this has happened to other candidates, but am I wrong in asking feedback? I think such feedback would help us prepare better for our upcoming interviews.
